#FiveSibes Flashback ~ 2015 ~ Wolfie   With the devastating hurricane that has hit Florida and is working its way up the coast, today's #FlashbackFriday photos are about being ready to evacuate WITH YOUR PETS, and some of our helpful tips as well as info and links from the ASPCA and an SPCA Cincinnati. The SPCA in Cincinnati folks are helping shelter dogs that are left homeless due to Hurrican Ian in Florida in an effort to help the Florida shelters make room for more displaced pets.   In an article from Fox News 19 , the SPCA in Cincinnati was quoted as saying, “Being a partner with (the Humane Society of the United States ) is something we’re proud of," explains Nyketa Gaffney with SPCA Cincinnati. “If we can assist and help with natural disasters that’s absolutely what we do. We’ve done it since Hurricane Katrina." The SPCA Cincinnati is also hosting a fundraiser to "help with Hurricane Ian relief rescue relief." To watch the news video with more info, ple

A Special Birthday Cake & Request on a #FlashbackFriday

#FiveSibes #Flashback ~ 2015 ~ Gibson   “Love leaves a memory no one can steal."   ~Irish Saying   Where, oh where, does the time go? This time of year - the first day of Autumn - brings to mind memories of seasons past, and since I'm an Autumn baby, this is also my birthday season. For my #FlashbackFriday trip down Memory Lane this week, we stop off at one of my birthdays past. I remember this particular birthday as clear as can be...my family surprised me with this gorgeous cake that had the image from a photo of my beloved heart dog, Gibson. All of my FiveSibes seemed to know when it was a birthday - I think maybe cake gave it away - as they would be excitedly (and always patiently) waiting for their piece (or as in the case of their birthdays, the whole cake). As you can see from the photos, Gibson was at the ready for a sample of my birthday cake! Of course, he was able to sample it, and loved it.      Of course I shared my "Gibson" cake with my Gibson! I love h

Wolfie, Thief of My Heart on a #FlashbackFriday

#Flashback ~ September 15, 2013 ~ Wolfie   Today, this precious photo of my now furangel boy Wolf popped up in my Facebook feed from 2013...nine years ago, today. My caption was "My baby boy Wolf just steals my heart." Sigh. I just stopped and gazed it for a long while. He was just four years old when I took this photo of him. Oh, how I loved how he used to make himself right at home in bed. When it was hot int he summer, he'd be all stretched out like this in front of the a/c. And, he loved his Lamb Chop!  I am still going through those painful "firsts" with his loss - this was the first summer without him, now we are heading into my first Autumn without him. Autumn (besides snowy winter) was our favorite time of year for colorful walks where he'd explore the woods around us. Loss is hard, but everything in that first year following is truly tough. I used to joke that he was my teenager because he loved to sleep! I like to think he is happily resting now wh

Nanuk "Harley" Mari  March 10, 2005 ~ September 13, 2019   Harley truly was a superstar. She was our first Siberian Husky, my daughter's dog...the OG of FiveSibes...the love of Gibson...adoptive momma to pupsters Wolf, Chloe, and Bandit...our beautiful badass pack Alpha Queen... Forever Missed.  How can it be three years you are gone? You had the biggest personality of any of our dogs. You reigned the pack majestically, fiercely, and lovingly. May you be having those crazy Harley husky zoomies north of the Rainbow Bridge with all of your beloved FiveSibes pack family now...I can still hear and see your love of running and chasing your fluffy tail. I hope the angels are playing Fetch with you because you sure loved that game! No other dog I have ever known could play Fetch as long as you could! Miss and love you for always, our Harley Momma.   To visit Harley's Tribute Visit HERE. “I loved you for your whole life and I’ll miss you for the rest of mine.”   Back to ou

K9 School Days, Dear Old Golden Rule Days on a #FiveSibes #FlashbackFriday!

#Flashback Photo ~ 2014 ~ Bandit   Most hu-kids have gone back to school by now, many just starting this week! Here, the hu-kids went back yesterday! So, we're dedicating this week's #FlashbackFriday to when our pupster Bandit was all ready with her backpack for when she went to canine school! This particular year she was five years old and I brought her over to our trainer when I discovered she had some deafness. I picked up some great tips and I eventually took over and trained Bandit with hand signals so she would keep right up with her siblings Wolf and Chloe, and big brother Gibson and momma Harley! She caught on quick, and unless someone knew, no one could even guess that she was hearing impaired. Dogs are so amazing and very inspirational!   Pictured here, our girl was all about studying...her language of choice? Why Dog, of course!
