Image

Another Newsy Tuesday!

Image
Gibson woooing his birthday and anniversary wishes! The past two days have been special ones here for the FiveSibe's hu-parents. Yesterday was my birthday and today is my husband's and my 30th wedding anniversary! We've received tons of Husky hugs and Sibe kisses from the furkids! Now, there is so much news to share and catch up on today!  I have to share???? First, we had entered a giveaway over at All Things Dog Blog and won! Wow, it was a box of treats that arrived in the mail for the the FiveSibes, who had a blast checking it all out!   The three pupsters had lots of fun sniffing out the goods, curious as to what could be in the box! Gibson even got a turn at sniffing the evidence. Wooooo! It's a whole box of   goodies that made their day! They had a blast playing tug-o-war with the rope twist toy and couldn't get enough of the tasty Cesar softie treats!  The surprise package sure made the FiveSibes' day! Many thanks to A

It's National Dog Week! Time to Celebrate & Appreciate Our Best Friends

Image
"Woooo, guys, it's National Dog Week!" Even though every day here at our house it is a "dog day," this week does mark the official National Dog Week, a great time to reflect back on our dogs' lives (as in our photo here when Wolf was a pup!) and just how much joy they bring to us each and every day. So what's a holiday without a celebration???  Last year's blog we had fun celebrating, and now it's the perfect excuse again to don some party hats, cue up the music, order in some pizza or BBQ up some yummy food to share with your furkids, and don't forget the vanilla ice cream cake! Any holiday is an official cause to celebrate with our FiveSibes! But, before we get too carried away with partying...here's a very interesting National Dog Week Blog , by author Lisa Begin-Kruysman,  to check out some great facts, trivia, art, and points about the origins of the week. You can also check out the National Dog Week Facebook page . According

Earlier tonight, the sky here was simply amazing...a gorgeous sunset and breathtaking double rainbow, with one being a full arc across our river. My daughter and I were walking to our car when we were treated to nature's spectacular show of beauty. We truly felt like we had witnessed something great. We were equipped with our camera phones only, but very thankful for modern technology and someone having the good smarts to include a phone! We hope you enjoy the video and our wishes for a great kickstart to an even better weekend!   Happy Friday! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * And this weekend, if you are looking for a good read, check out blogger pal, Carol Wyer's Facing 50 with Humour blog where there is a huge book release party going on for her new book, Mini Skirts and Laughter Lines . A Tribute to the Canine Heroes of 9/11

Image
T oday marks the tenth anniversary of 9/11. It's hard to believe that the day all of our lives were forever changed is a decade old. Newborns are now entering middle school. Five-year-olds are now high school students, and high school students are now college graduates, many with careers and families of their own. While time has certainly marched on, that fateful day will never be forgotten. For the families who lost loved ones, for the rescue workers, volunteers, and canines with their handlers who all responded to the calls for help...this blog is dedicated to you. Thank you for your endurance and dedication. We will never forget. D eservingly so, there will be a ceremony today honoring these K9 heroes, many who have since crossed the Rainbow Bridge, while those who are elderly and now retired from duty, will be in attendance at the tribute held across the river from lower Manhattan, organized by the non-profit Tails of Hope Foundation. Many appreciative woos and thank

It's Back to School Time...is Your Pet Ready?

Image
Bandit is ready for school! Even though we have a few more weeks left until summer is officially over, Back-to-School season really winds down the summer for many. With all the business of shopping for school items and drives to settle college kids into their dorms,  try not to forget the furkids in all of the excitement. After spending all summer playing and lazing around with the family, the excitement of back-to-school can translate into stress for our family pets. To help pets adjust to the sudden empty-house syndrome, try preparing them a few days before. Here are just a few tips: Gibson doesn't want to trade the pool for school yet! If your dog is now going to be alone all day, do a sample run-through of what the new typical work/school day will be. By doing this with your dog a few days before, it will let your pet become accustomed to the new routine before the new routine actually starts. Let  your dog escort your child with you to the bus sto
