Reminiscing About Our Mother of Huskies on Her Heavenly Birthday

Image
The FiveSibes "Nanuk 'Harley' Mari" ~ March 10, 2005 ~ September 13, 2019   A Bridge Called Love   It takes us back to brighter years, to happier sunlit days and to precious moments that will be with us always. And these fond recollections are treasured in the heart to bring us always close to those from whom we had to part. There is a bridge of memories from Earth to Heaven above… It keeps our dear ones near us It’s the bridge that we call love. ~Unknown    🌈✨🐾🐾   The most beautiful puppy! Even as a young pup, with her stunning dark mask, intense bright blue eyes, and what we called her Canadian flower on her head (nod to my ancestors!) she had the "look" of a future alpha queen. T here is not much more I can add to this beautiful poem other than Harley, as you know, was our OG of the FiveSibes pack—our first Siberian Husky who went on to become our beautiful alpha queen. She was *the* most beautiful, smart, sassy Siberian...

A Birthday Fit For Our Queen Harley!

Woo! It is such a special day here at FiveSibes homestead ~ our beautiful, super smart, sassy, and bossy alpha queen Harley is celebrating her 14th Birthday!  Our FiveSibes alpha queen "Harley Nanuk Mari" It is amazing to me that my daughter, who is married with a family of her own, was just 17 years old when we travelled in the pouring rain to bring THE most beautiful Siberian Husky puppy home! She has always been in love with the breed, and when our rescue Akita/German Shepard Chelsey was in her golden years, we opened our hearts and home to the stunning Husky puppy with such an intense mask, fulfilling not only my daughter's dream, but she would also soon become the leader of the future FiveSibes pack family, who all have added so much joy to my life! While Troy may have Helen, our Harley single-handedly was the gorgeous face that launched the FiveSibes and my love for this amazing breed. Gibson sure knew exactly what he was falling in love with when he jo...

A Birthday Fit for a FiveSibes Queen!

Woo! Today is our beautiful alpha queen Harley's 13th Birthday! Wow! It seems like just yesterday she was a wee pup of 7 weeks old when we drove an hour away in a pouring rain storm to pick up what was our family's first Siberian Husky. My daughter had wanted a Husky pup for a long time, since she was a kid! But I always said when she grew up and knew how to care for a dog, I would get her one. We already had our senior dog, Chelsey, a beautiful German Shepherd and Akita mix we had adopted from our local SPCA when my daughter was very young. They grew up together and were best buds. Once I was confident she could care for her own, we brought Harley into our family. Little did we know then, that flash forward - we would add four more Huskies to our family and they would become the incredible FiveSibes!  Harley has always been the alpha. The leader of the pack family. When we brought Gibson home at four months of age, she was a year and a half, he fell head over fluffy t...

All Hail the Queen: Happy Birthday, Harley!

Our beautiful blue-eyed alpha queen Nanuk "Harley" Mari turns 12 today!  Wow! I can hardly believe it was a dozen years ago she first entered our hearts and home as a 7-week old pup! My daughter always wanted a Siberian Husky, and I have to thank her for introducing me to the breed! We drove an hour south of where we live to check out the stunning black and white, blue-eyed puppy and it was instant love between her and my daughter. I remember on the ride home, it was a torrential downpour! But Harley didn't mind. She climbed up by  my daughter and fell asleep as the water came down in sheets against the rear car window! Twelve. I think someone has not told Harley her r eal age, for (thankfully) s he thinks and acts like she is still a pup! What's age after all , but just a number? Full of sass and Husky attitu de, Harley is an exceptionally smart dog.   Sometimes too smart! She loves to sit and listen to our conversat ions and will join in occasional ...
