30 Days Has November, So 30 K9 Epilepsy Tips Have We!

Image
M y Flashback is of my beloved Gibson featured here in this 30 days of Epi-Tips (one a day consolidated into a slideshow) I created in the hopes that it helps others on their journey with Canine Epilepsy because Epi-dogs like Gibson, can~and do~live happy lives. This idea originally began as a daily tip posted each day for the 30 days of November's Epilepsy Awareness Month, and then I created the slideshow for a Purple Day® Every Day virtual conference one year. I hope if you are new to the Canine Epilepsy journey, know you are not alone, don't be scared (although you will be), and let us help guide you along the way.  Be sure to make your first stop at our #FiveSibes #LiveGibStrong K-9 Epilepsy Online Resource Library right here on this blog! (See menu bar at top of blog!) So embrace it all, the good and the bad, the scary and the triumphant (because you will experience all of that with a dog that has seizures) and find all the things you and your furry best friend enjoyin...

An Ode to Epi-Dogs Living With Canine Epilepsy on a FiveSibes Flashback Friday

Image
Flashback Photo - December 2012- Gibson with his painted likeness, the artist, and his lead vet! I love Flashback Fridays! While some memories are bittersweet, I prefer to let my mind drift back to those precious moments and relive the joys. Today, as we wrap up November's Epilepsy Awareness Month, I just want to take a moment to say that every day is a day for awareness and to champion these amazing, loving dogs who, even with the challenges of living with Canine Epilepsy, can live full happy lives just the same as dogs who do not have Epilepsy. If your dog has a seizure, always contact your vet immediately, and then research! You are NOT alone! Come on over to my new FiveSibes website and there is a section dedicated to Canine Epilepsy Awareness, where I share all of my books, articles, links to resources, and an encyclopedia information I have learned over the years of loving and caring for my own Epi-dog, Gibson. And as we close out National Epilepsy Awarene...

#30DaysForEpiNovember: Day 5 is Strength; Unveiling the New #LiveGibStrong Logo

Image
Today we are talking about "strength." And to me...that word is synonymous with Gibson. In honor of my strong, brave, beautiful angel Epi warrior, I am proud to unveil our new #LiveGibStrong logo! You may have started to see it on a few of my Canine Epilepsy Awareness posts, and you will see it on my new website, that I will be unveiling this month. While this logo had been designed a few years ago, prior to Gib's journeying to north of the Rainbow Bridge, the time just was not right to unveil it. Today, I feel it in my heart and soul that it's the perfect time. The logo, which is based on the Gibson cartoon character from my FiveSibes Tale books, depicts Gibson being "Gib Strong," meaning that dogs with Canine Epilepsy are true warriors, they do not give up, they enjoy their days in between seizures, and may they live strong. With November being National Epilepsy Awareness Month, I am also joining Kimberley Matchem and Epi-dog "Rolo...
