Flashback Photo: My full FiveSibes pack family, September 2015
I love this photo, and the memory more! It brings me right back to that moment in time as though it were yesterday. I remember coming home with burgers for my FiveSibes, and even before I stepped outside, those super sniffers knew I had food! Even with all their excitement, they always were a very polite pack and waited patiently for me to give them the chow-down OK! Chloe was the sweetest of the pack, but also the loudest when it came to food and definitely the pack chow hound! Notice she is front and center to that burger! When I took this pic, I loved it immediately because their personalities and love of food really shined through! My dear FiveSibes, together again, even if for just a moment.
So, if life throws you a burger, eat (and enjoy) it!

Wolf: "Hey, Bandit, hu-mom left her apple unattended! Let's get some licks in."
Bandit: "Nommm...hurry up, Wolfie. I think I hear hu-mom coming back."
FiveSibesMom: "Ahem. Did you guys lick that apple?"
Silence...with two sets of blue eyes (not-so-innocently) staring at me in Husky denial.
This past weekend dawned with brilliant folliage on the trees further up north from us. So, during a lovely drive through what looked like a beautiful Autumn painting, we spotted a cute little roadside orchard that bright orange pumpkins piled in the back of an old red International pickup, and inside was a cooler full of fresh-picked, large apples! We chose a bag of Honeycrisps, and they were hands-down the best apples we or our Huskies ever took a bite of! No wonder Wolfie and Bandit were tempted to a few licks of my apple!
Did you know...?
Apples are healthy treats for dogs either as an addition to a homemade treat, or even fresh apple bits? (Just be sure to never give your dog the apple core or seeds! Those (and leaves) can be toxic to dogs, cats, and horses according to the ASPCA toxic plant list. Be sure to throw them away where your dog cannot get to them)!
Looking for some healthy apple treats for your dog? Check out this YUMMY doggie version of apple crisp, compliments of our friend Jessica from the famous Gone to the Snow Dogs kitchen!
And, Jessica also whips up some doggylicious dehydrated apple chips for the snow dogs, too! Can you say, "wooooo?!"
Many thanks to Jessica and her Snow Dogs for the great apple recipes! Be sure to check out their award-winning GTTSD YouTube channel for a lot more siberlicious recipes!
So while the weather is gorgeous and the apples are tasty and ripe, why not head out and get a bag or bushel from your nearest orchard? Your dogs will thank you! Don't forget your mask and some hand sanitizer!

""Mom always picks the best beds for us!"
"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!" I loooooove this bed!"
"Thank wooooo, Mom!"
BED REVIEW:
Furhaven Pet - Plush Orthopedic Sofa, L-Shaped Chaise Couch
We like the Furhaven beds here at FiveSibes! When these beds arrive, they are in a vacuum sealed bag and need 24 hours to get their shape, so don't be alarmed at how they first look bumpy! I'm used to it as I have had Furhavens in the past. They are a nice light weight bed, so not hard to move around, yet they stay put! This is not a heavy duty style bed, but out of all the beds I've had, my Huskies seem happy with them and don't rip them up! For the price, which is not expensive compared to others I've purchased, they hold up well (if you don't have a bed ripper)! If you are looking for a heavy duty bed, this is not the one for you. But for us, we replace their beds each season, so the style and price makes these a nice comfy spot for my Huskies to chill out on.
Senior "pupsters" now, I opt for theorthopedic foam to give their aging joints comfort. Bandit and Wolfie relax on them and love the chaise style, which is bumper cushions on two sides, and open on two sides so they can cuddle or stretch out. I purchased the Large, which is perfect for how my Huskies (67 and 69 lbs) like to sleep. Some may prefer the Giant size for more space, but Wolfie and Bandit do fine with Large. (Images of sizes and interior are from Amazon).
There is also an assortment of colors and styles, but I chose the two-tone Stone Gray to match our house. I use these as an outdoor deck bed, but definitely bring them in as they are plush! They cancertainly be wonderful indoor beds (as myprevious ones were). If you'd like to get one, I have posted the Amazon link below!
Flashback: Summer 2015 Wolf & Bandit in Their Pool!
Oh, where, oh, where did summer 2020 go? With all the Covid-19 regs, it hardly felt like summer at all with all our favorite places to go either closed or too crowded to even attempt. Summer 2020 sure has been a strange one, and even faster than usual. It was a big summer for us with relocating, helping Wolfie and Bandit adjust to a new place, the coronavirus...so lots of adjustments. All in all, we are all looking forward to Fall! Bring on the crisp, cooler temps, the gorgeous changing colors of the leaves, sweaters and sweatshirts, boots, and everything pumpkin! My two FiveSibes and I are ready! Are you?
Happy Labor Day Weekend!

What's happier to look at than sunflowers?! Somehow just looking at the bright yellow summer sunflower makes us all smile! Our FiveSibes pupsters Wolfie and Bandit love to sniff them, too!
Hello dear Blogville friends! As you know, it's been awhile since we have been blogging. If you follow us on our FiveSibes: Siberian Husky K9 News & Reviews Facebook page, we do continue our updates, but my muse apparently hit the road! After losing our beloved Harley just three months after losing our sweet Chloe, I needed to take a step back and my creativity went on hold. We also had some big life changes to adjust to and help our Wolfie and Bandit adjust as well, especially to the loss of their beloved sibling and "momma." And...since we last "spoke," the world has certainly changed. So much illness, chaos, unrest, and unhappiness...we sure do hope this post finds you all safe and well. Many things have happened during our blogging and The Sibe Vibe Dog Works Radio show hiatus, including adjusting to the loss of Chloe and Harley, and a big move! We also recently had a health scare with our girl Bandit. I hope to soon be back blogging more regularly, and soon restart my #FlashbackFriday and #WaitingWednesday (highlighting adoptable Huskies) blog hops. I sure hope you'll come back to visit and participate! For now The Sibe Vibe show is still on hiatus as we get into a new normal swing of things, but you can visit the website and listen to the library of podcasts and I will keep you posted of any new news.
Uppermost news, our girl Bandit has gone through a medical issue--but, cutting to the current, she is doing well. Back in April during a vet visit for an ear infection, a pretty good size mass was discovered inside her mouth. With our move to a new location and having to find a good vet (after a 20+ year relationship with my amazing vet team) was no easy task. Add that our "Pupsters" are now 12.5 years old, the Covid-19 pandemic, and having to hand our dog over to a complete stranger, this was not easy to do! Talk about a nervous Husky mom! However, I was able to have them become patients of a wonderful and caring mobile vet who does house calls, which was important to me as they were used to home visits from our previous long-time vet team. Upon finding the mass, she recommended a surgeon in our area, who after several conversations (and no face-to-face due to Covid-19), I felt confident and we arranged a surgery date for our girl.
Bandit did great during surgery and they were able to cleanly remove the mass. It was sent away for pathology and Bee came home with us and to her worried brother, Wolfie. She has been healing nicely, I am happy to report. And Wolfie is very happy to have her home for Sibe sibling snuggles!
It took five weeks, but we just received the results of the report, and while it is not benign, it is also not high-risk. At this time, with the blessing of the vet surgeon, we will be keeping a close eye on her, but no further medication or treatments are needed at this time. I pray for no return of any masses and that she and Wolfie may enjoy many more healthy years together.
I know many of you follow us over on Facebook and Instagram (@FiveSibesMom) and have left prayers and positive thoughts, and I want to say "thank you" from the bottom of my Husky-loving heart!
Goodbye to our Alpha Queen Harley. We will love you forever.

Welcome to the FiveSibes blog! At our home, we are the proud parents to five beautiful, lovable, energetic full-blooded Siberian Huskies whom we fondly refer to as "the kids!" Out of the five, four are siblings, three of them littermates! We also have an "Honorary Husky Cat" who adopted us, and most recently, she brought home another furpal, a feral kitten who has now adopted us, too! These furbabies are truly are a part of our family and we love them so! Through this blog, you will get to meet each one of them and share in a laugh or a cry at their fun-loving, crazy, wacky, and sometimes worrisome antics.
I first began the idea of creating a FiveSibes blog quite awhile ago when one of our Sibes, my wooly boy, Gibson, developed seizures shortly after his third birthday. When I began writing my journal of his medical journey, I had started posting entries on other social media as a way of connecting to others who also experienced the same with their dogs. Through this medium, I was able to connect with some pretty terrific dog-loving folks, both owners of Sibes, as well as other breeds, who I am happy to now call my friends.
My intention for this blog is to write about "a day in the life of" the FiveSibes, bringing thoughts, ideas, photos, tips, and discoveries to the forefront of discussion about the wonderful breed, as well as all things canine with others who share the same passion and love for their furbabies as we do.
We also hope to help spread the word that there are so many abandoned and homeless Sibes out there who could use a loving home. Too many times folks bring home a Husky simply for their beauty, but do not do the research to understand the breed and its needs and then turn the dog into a shelter when they can't/won't care for it anymore. Please visit the Sibe rescues listed on this site if you are considering bringing a Siberian Husky into your home. There are so many beautiful furbabies just waiting for a loving, forever home. Maybe yours could be one!
Let's make this forum a nice, comfy, polite place for everyone to visit--bring along your darling dog (or dogs), pull up a chair, have a cup of coffee, and let's talk canine!
