HAPPY 18th Birthday at the Rainbow Bridge, our gorgeous alpha queen, Harley!  Today's Flashbacks are from various birthdays over the years... There is a B-I-G party going on north of the Rainbow Bridge! It's the birthdate of our beautiful first Siberian Husky, and the alpha queen of the FiveSibes pack ~ Nanuk "Harley" Mari ~ who would be 18 years old today!  While I know in reality she would not be here now, it is so wonderful to remember her and how she snuggled up to Gibson, and raised three pupsters that were not of her blood as her very own. Harley was the perfect picture of a Siberian Husky - her beautiful stunning blue eyes and black mask gave her the true princess look - I used to think of her like Cleopatra of the canine world. Today is a very special day and Flashback Friday here at FiveSibes...it's my darling daughter's (our FiveSibes co-guardian) birthday! Not only is she my amazing girl whom I am so very proud of, but she's also my best friend! She has assisted in the raising, training, and caring for our FiveSibes. Our amazing journey together with our five Siberian Huskies initially all goes back to her love of the breed and that wonderful day almost 14 years ago when she chose puppy Harley and puppy Harley chose her, and we welcomed our (future) alpha queen to our family! Shortly after, we were hit with the "Potato Chip Theory," which is once you have one Siberian Husky, you want (need) more! Today is a very special day! It's "Faith" DaBaldo's "Sweet 16" Birthday! This inspirational Siberian Husky I met several years ago and have since become wonderful friends with her mother! We thank our furbabies for introducing us! Isn't it wonderful the people we meet through our dogs? Her hu-mom, Jeanette, helps keep this beauty youthful through a number of alternative therapies including AquaTread, acupuncture, chiropractic treatments and stem cell therapy! Faith loves the snow and spending time with her hu-mom and hu-dad, and sometimes this sweet-faced angel enjoys some Husky zoomies and a can even give a little Husky sass! With my birthday coming up, I have been reflecting back on how much has changed since last year's birthday when my family surprised me with a beautiful Gibson cake!  I had fun that day with him and the cake and now cherish we had that as no one knew what the year ahead held. Not only did I lose my beloved Mom in November, but then Gibson left to keep her company in December. My Flashbacks are from birthdays past that were shared with my amazing mother and beloved Gibson. This birthday almost closes out the year's "firsts" of holidays and celebrations without my Mom and my boy, Gibson, here with me.  I wish I could say it has gotten easier. It hasn't. Today, March 10th, is a very special day here at FiveSibes homestead, it's our pack's alpha queen Harley's 11th Birthday! Eleven years ago today this gorgeous girl came into our lives as my daughter's best friend, stole all our hearts, and have brought us so much joy! I can remember the drive home after we picked her up...it was a pouring rain outside when we went to check her out. My daughter had wanted a Siberian Husky for a very long time, and when she turned 17, and after years of caring for our adopted dog, Chelsey, and dwarf bunny, Sugar, we decided the time was right for her to pick out her own dog, her Husky. Once back in the car, cuddled in my daughter's arms, we began to make the trip back home, when this little black and white fluff ball with bright blue eyes climbed up my daughter's shoulders and made herself comfy in the back window of our car and slept all the way home!  Harley is gorgeous, strong, sassy, and (too) smart! She has fully accept...
