I nspired by my own Epi-dog (dog with epilepsy) "Gibson," I became  an official Ambassador for  Purple Day® for (K9) Epilepsy in 2012. This time of year - the first day of Autumn - brings to mind memories of seasons past, and since I'm an Autumn baby, this is also my birthday season. For my #FlashbackFriday trip down Memory Lane this week, we stop off at one of my birthdays past. I remember this particular birthday as clear as can be...my family surprised me with this gorgeous cake that had the image from a photo of my beloved heart dog, Gibson. All of my FiveSibes seemed to know when it was a birthday - I think maybe cake gave it away - as they would be excitedly (and always patiently) waiting for their piece (or as in the case of their birthdays, the whole cake). As you can see from the photos, Gibson was at the ready for a sample of my birthday cake! Of course, he was able to sample it, and loved it.      Of course I shared my "Gibson" cake with my Gibson...

*Updated November 16, 2025      Do You Know About The Wally Foundation? T he Wally Foundation~Canine Epilepsy (TWF) is a non-profit organization based in Delaware that commenced operations in 2013. TWF offers possible financial assistance to families and rescues caring for dogs diagnosed with idiopathic Canine Epilepsy so that a family with an Epidog (dog with Canine Epilepsy) did not have to choose between getting medication for their dog or euthanization.  In order to bring you the most current information on what this wonderful organization is doing, I recently interviewed Rick Selwood, Founder and Executive Director of the organization named after his beloved Epidog, Wally. To date, they have assisted 217 families with medications or cash assistance to care for their Epi-dogs!  Let's Meet Rick Selwood and Learn About TWF...
