Wait! Who Sees You When You're Sleeping, Wrapping, or Being Naughty or Nice?

Image
Wolf realized that apparently Santa Paws is not the only one who sees them when they're sleeping, wrapping, naughty, or nice! Can you spot who is keeping an eye on Wolfie in this Flashback Friday photo from 2014?! And...did your keen eye notice our cool wrapping paper? Yup! Featuring none other than our cartoonized FiveSibes! Pretty cool, right?!   (You can tell it's the howlidays as we seem to have a little gift wrapping theme going on with our posts! Wednesday's post was all about wrapping up Christmas)!  "When we recall Christmas past, we usually find that the simplest things - not the great occasions - give off the greatest glow of happiness." ~Bob Hope   We Want to Know! So, keeping with our Flashing Back theme, also from 2014, brothers Wolf and Gibson would love to know... You're Invited! Can the Total Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse Trigger a Seizure in Dogs With Epilepsy?

Image
Wolf and Harley love laying out under the full moon! Update: November 6, 2022. Once again, we will be having a "Blood Moon" full lunar eclipse that will take place on Tuesday, November 8th , and this type of lunar activity (and with the recent Standard Time Change), could pose as triggers to dogs with Epilepsy. Not to say all Epi-dogs will be affected by both of these changes, but there are some who are very sensitive to changes of any type. So here at FiveSibes, we say best to be informed and be prepared "just in case." How to Prepare? Basically, it's to be prepared *for possible seizure activity* by having your safety precautions and First Aid in place. Prior to the eclipse, have a chat with your veterinarian, and do a little pre-planning, as you would for any out-of-the-ordinary situation or event that could have an adverse effect on your Epi-dog. While the eclipse (hopefully) may not trigger seizure activity in your dog, some helpful hints in pr...

#FiveSibes Flashback Friday: Gib, Pool's Open!

Image
I remember this sweet day so clearly, it was June 2015...unbeknownst to me at the time, it was my Gibson's last summer with us. My husband had just opened our pool for the season and Gibbie and I just "chilled out" on the deck together. My big fluffy buddy boy. My spirit guide. My furry best friend. My Epi warrior. My heart dog. Gibson was the lover of the pack of FiveSibes. He was such a gentle soul. We had that magical human-canine connection; we could communicate without saying a word. He was such an amazing dog. I'm so glad for all the memories, and so happy for each and every moment spent with him and all of my FiveSibes! After we go through the pain of losing our furry best friend, and learning to live without them, what we have left are all those amazing moments spent together. While bittersweet, they fill my heart with love all over again each time I revisit one of those special moments with him caught on film. "Today's special moments are tomor...

Original Love on a FiveSibes Flashback Friday

Image
Today, Harley is showing a photo of "the Originals" of our FiveSibes pack family ~ her and  Gibson from when they were puppies! We are flashing back 10 years to when Gibson joined our family at four months of age, and Harley, the love of his life from first glance, was just over a year old! While this month marks five months since Gibson journeyed North of the Rainbow Bridge, in other ways it seems this photo was just taken only a short while ago. I miss my "married couple" and how they were always together, snuggling. As much as I had a very special bond with Gib, so did Harley. He was so smitten with his beautiful alpha queen. Oh, how precious time is, and it does indeed keep marching on. So keep sharing special moments together, making tomorrow's memories today. You never know when you're making a memory. Flashback Friday: When A Siberian Husky Joins the Family!

Image
Flipping through older photographs for my Flashback Friday series is always fun, and sometimes bittersweet, especially when I come across the furbabies that are no longer here, but always in my heart. This photo made me chuckle. Our old gal, Chelsey, a German Shepherd/Akita mix we adopted as a puppy from our local SPCA, was our family dog for almost 13 years before we brought home our first Siberian Husky puppy, Harley. Harley was (still is at almost 11!) a ball of energy and everything was fair game for a little Husky body slamming! Chelsey's expression in this photo says it all! Lucky for her, we welcomed Gibson soon after this was taken so Harley had a pup to boss, shove, and love, leaving Chelsey to go back to bathing in the sunbeams shining through my daughter's bedroom window as a senior pup should be able to do! “I guess sometimes the greatest memories are made in the most unlikely of places, further proof that spontaneity is more rewarding than a m...
