Yesterday was Grooming Day here at the FiveSibes homestead, and none too soon. While they are brushed on a regular basis, we have the groomer come to our house to give them their baths and in-between "pawdicures" that consist of having the fur (that grows wild between their paw pads) trimmed, as well as having their nails clipped.
The day began with the Sibes all quietly nestled in their beds, snoozing away peacefully in the air conditioned house, that is until I went downstairs and opened up the front door. They jumped up and raced over to the gate at the top of the stairs, their blue eyes wide with realization...The Groomer Man cometh! The horror! As I turned to tell them to "stay," I had to stifle a chuckle at the worrisome expression on their faces! If they could have run off to hide, the surely would have!
These in-between visits the groomer uses a powerful grooming air force dryer (with no heating element) to assist with blowing out their shedding undercoats. If you were watching from a distance, you'd swear it was snowing! Those Husky snow furries were twisting and twirling in the air, covering both the groomer and me in a splendid layer of Siberian Husky fur, as well as the deck, yard, trees, and pool!
Ever see Husky snow furries? Take a look for yourself!
Siberian Huskies really only blow out their coats about twice a year. Okay, I confess, it does sometimes feel and look like they shed all year round, especially with several Huskies. One is always at some stage of the blow-out when another begins, making it seem like it's all just one long shedding season! But that's okay - Husky fur is a condiment in our home! Plus, we have the happiest birds around come winter time when they are all nestled in their Siberian Husky fur-lined nests!
When people ask me, "Do Siberian Huskies shed much?" I chuckle, then always tell them they absolutely do, and there is so much undercoat, especially with four and five Sibes, that I have enough fur to create another whole Husky! Speaking of which, have you met "Fluffly?" He's new to our pack! His coloring is white, with a splash of gray, and he's quite calm. Cute, don't you think?!

I left Chloe's collar near Fluffy to give an idea of just how big this pile of fur is! And this is just from an in-between seasonal blow-out!

| "Ice cream? Sure, we forgive you, Mom." |
Post-grooming, the Sibes were all very relieved when it was all over and The Groomer Man had finally left. They paid absolutely no attention to poor Fluffy, who was just lying there on the deck floor. They soon forgave me for subjecting them to such torture, and quite willingly accepted my bribe of ice cream for forgiveness! Ah, yes, the road to forgiveness is paved with creamy vanilla ice cream!
