With movies and pop culture highlighting the breed, the number of people who think they desire a beautiful Siberian Husky has catapulted their popularity. However, the Siberian Husky’s specific traits that make them the awesome dogs they are, are also the very same traits that can get them into trouble. Unfortunately, too many times this results with people surrendering the dog to a shelter because they can’t or won’t handle the Husky traits. Our message is to please educate yourself on the breed and its traits BEFORE you get one to be certain this is the dog for you and your family so both you and your Husky can live a happy life together for the life of your dog.

Our advice? Please talk to a Siberian Husky rescue or reputable breeder to get more info on this beautiful, charming, intelligent breed!  To find a Husky rescue near you, please visit our Rescue page HERE!

  1. WOW!!! I learned so much about the Husky breed. A beautiful breed! I'm so glad you have provided such great detail information. People should be required to take a "Husky Course" before getting a Husky so they don't end up surrendered to sheltered or worse, dumped somewhere.

I don't think I even knew half of what you provided in this article and the associated articles and videos. Truly I was educated, but I still wouldn't say I'm educated enough to get a Husky.

I have to say, I LOVE the video of Harley digging. Henry digs the exact same way. He must think he's a small Husky. I'm hoping this article educates folks in a way they never expected.

Hint: Work on a Husky 101 and 102 class for folks to take. That would be amazing and enlightening for people who think a Husky is simply a "dog".

I'm sharing this insightful article with my all my dog parents!
