Flashback Friday: Epi-Star Gibson and An EPIc Christmas Book Publication!

Image
My beautiful boy... "Gibson" Les Paul of Mystic Mountain Since this is the last day of November, (K9) Epilepsy Awareness Month, I'm dedicating this Flashback Friday to my beautiful Epi-Star, Gibson. Even with all the ups and downs of life with Canine Epilepsy, I would walk the same journey with him all over again. Thanks to Gibson, I have met so many wonderful and amazing Epi-dogs and their beloved humans from across the globe that I am so proud to call my friends. Some, like my Gibson, have gone on to earn their furangel wings, but shall remain in our hearts forever.  In the above Flashback Friday photo, it was Christmas 2014, and we had the first printed advance copies of my book,  EPIc Dog Tales: Heartfelt Stories About Amazing Dogs Living & Loving Life With Canine Epilepsy  i n our hot little paws!   What a thrill that was to have the actual printed book! EPIc Dog Tales was a true labor of love and I'm so very proud of it. And to be ab...

Take-Out on a #FiveSibes Flashback Friday!

Image
Flashback Photo: Autumn 2009 While looking back over photos of my FiveSibes, I came to a favorite (aren't they all?) of mine...and I was amazed that it was from nine years ago already! I remember this day as clear as if  it were yesterday. Time is funny like that, isn't it? I always like opening my kitchen window while using the oven to cool off the house, and always love it when one or all of my FiveSibes pop their head in the window! Sometimes, they even get a treat or two through the window! It always reminds me of a drive-thru window! While I do feature memes on our Merry Meme Monday posts, I could not resist putting words to this photo! Do you have a window your pets love to peek in through? YOU'RE INVITED! Come join in our weekly stroll down Memory Lane in our weekly FiveSibes Flashback Friday Blog Hop! Whether you share a photo of your pet (fave family, vacation, and landscape flashback pics welcome, too) from yesterday or yesteryear, let...

Flashback Friday Night Fun With the FiveSibes!

Flashback Photo ~ August 2017 My dear Siberian Huskies...the working breed... If you know Siberian Huskies, they are full of personality and can be pretty silly. It was pretty easy to put words in their canine mouths! I so love these pups. They make TV night (and every day) very entertaining! Heat Wave on a #FiveSibes Flashback Friday

Image
Wow! This summer sure is one for the record books! After a short break from the heat, the past few days the temperatures rose as the humidity snuck back in at almost 100% giving us days with a heat index reaching a sweltering 105℉, which is unusually high here in the Hudson Valley. No one wanted to be outside, especially our snow-loving Huskies! They even have to be convinced to leave the cool air conditioned house when it was potty time, and then it was a quick trip out to do their business, a run through the pool (except for Chloe who hates water!), and then right back inside!  Today's Flashback photo above is from last summer when one day after the Sibes were back inside and I stayed out on the deck to freshen their pool water and hose down the area, I turned to see Bandit had opened the kitchen door to peer out at me as though she was worried about me staying out in the heat! I guess it is a role reversal when your dog thinks you need to come in from the heat instea...

Trainspotting on a FiveSibes Flashback Friday!

Image
Gibson trainspotting circa 2012! Gibson and I used to love our walks together. It was our special time together away from the rest of the pack. With Canine Epilepsy, he had side effects from the medications including bouts of hind end weakness and an eventual torn CCL, which we treated with Conservative Care Management so he did not have to go through surgery and risk triggering an onset of seizures. As part of his rehab, we went on many slow and easy walks together. And he was the very best walker! He never pulled, he always was right by my side. We had so many wonderful conversations, and yes, I know he understood every word I was saying, and his eyes conveyed his words. We had that kind of a special bond. I always said he was truly my spirit animal. I like to believe he still is, and always will be. During our walks, Gibson especially enjoyed going down to watch the trains go by, as in these photos. It always amazed me that it never frightened him being so close, he jus...

Catching Up on Another Seizure Monster Visit on a #FiveSibes Flashback Friday

Image
Harley relaxing with her pack family on a recent evening. Have you missed us? We sure hope so! It has been a little hit and miss with my blogging lately due to a few things here on the homefront, including some ongoing heath issues for both myself and a few of the FiveSibes, including Wolf and his ongoing gastrointestinal issues from anxiety (that will be another post), Chloe having elevated kidney levels in her recent annual, and another visit from the dreaded seizure monster for my senior gal, the FiveSibes alpha queen and surrogate momma, Harley. It's been a little over a year since she had her first seizure, which after tests, showed she had hypothyroidism and could be the trigger for the seizure. At 12, it is not typically a diagnosis of Canine Epilepsy, but it is a whole new book of concerns when a senior dog starts seizing. Not only did Harley have her second full blown grand mal seizure a little over a month ago, she also had a little "incident" a couple ...

Pomp & Circumstance on a #FiveSibes Flashback Friday!

Image
Since this is graduation weekend for many school districts, I thought it fitting to pay homage by flashing back 11 years to a celebratory Friday in June of 2006 when my daughter graduated and my six-month-old puppy Gibson (pre-wooly coat) was enjoying all the pomp and partying! What a wonderful day! I would like to take a moment to congratulate all the graduates who are getting ready for the next exciting leg of their lives and send along best wishes for much success!  "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."   ~Eleanor Roosevelt Join Us!!! When the Sun Shines on a Flashback Friday

Image
There's a whole lotta hopping going on! First up, we are flashing back a few years to one of my favorite memories of my  now furangel Gibson, who was enjoying his rehab walking after a period of time where he was dealing with a weak hind end and a torn CCL due to side effects of his epilepsy medicine. During a rest, he raised his head toward the sunny sky, closed his eyes, and looked so blissful, I just had to snap his photo and pair it with the amazingly true quote. I look at this photo often and smile. Always a champion, Gibson truly enjoyed every minute of life. He was, and will always be, an inspiration to me, and remind me that even during tough times, be sure to take a few minutes to embrace and appreciate this wonderful life we have. Happy Flashback Friday!   Do you have a photo from  your pet's past that you'd like to share?
