How Many Snow Dogs Do You See?!

Winter Flashback ~ FiveSibes   “A snow day literally and figuratively falls from the sky...and seems like a thing of wonder.”     ~Susan Orlean With the past few days of snow we've been having here, it brought back to mind how much my FiveSibes loved to go out and play in it! It was as though we waited all year in anticiaption of wintery snow days and it was truly a magical world in our yard during and after a snowfall when I'd let my Huskies let out in the yard to play! I'd open the kitchen door and they would zoom out across the deck down the ramp and into the snowy yard below. Oh, how they had a blast, especially during the quiet snowy evenings, when they went out to investigate the newly fallen snow in the that wondrous peaceful silence that only happens right after a snowfall. Snowy nights were always a special time for my snow dogs and me. ❄️đź’™  Question: In the magical snowy evening photo above, can you count how many of my FiveSibes were playing o...

Bandit's Gift of Snow

Image
Wolfie received a surprise today...a sign from his sister, Bandit--snow!   "Snow!" enjoys Wolfie. One week ago tomorrow, our dear Bandit girl made her journey to the snowy fields north of the Rainbow Bridge, a place where Siberian Huskies go to find their family and friends in the forever snow. Bandit loved the snow, as most "snow dogs" do. Huskies were born for snow. Whenever it snows, it is truly natures gift to the Siberian Husky and many of their dog friends.     In Bandit's memorial post , I mentioned that our girl was strong, tough, and resilient, and like a Husky, was easily distracted by passing birds, fluttering butterflies, buzzing bees, squirrels, opossums, cats, and other dogs. This distraction, I noted, would most likely delay her arrival at the Rainbow Bridge, where our dearly departed Harley, her big brother Gibson, and her pupster sister Chloe would all be waiting for her.      How I picture my four furangels reuniting in those snowy Rainb...

A Snow Day for Snow Dogs!

Image
February is off to quite a start! Monday was a very snowy day here! It started snowing last night and went on all through the day and into the evening. We currently have about a foot and another storm moving in again in a day or so. It was a great day if you were a snow dog! The FiveSibes had a blast today. While Harley is on leash lock down due to her arthritic legs, and Gibson is still in the lift harness from his fall a year ago due to hind end weakness from his Epi-meds, they, too, had time to enjoy sitting in the snow and enjoy the crisp snowflakes falling all around them. When first let out, our girl Bandit flew like the wind over and into the snow drifts, all before I could even turn on my recorder! By the time I did, she had backed her speed and excitement back a few notches, but she gave us a very silly show! Here's a little video slideshow of their fun in the snow: A side effect of snow plowing Siberian Husky style! And after all the fun i...
