Celebrating 10 Years of "The Sibe Vibe" Show on Dog Works Radio: "If It's About A Siberian Husky, We'll Chat About It Here!"

Image
In the Siberian Husky "ease" of speaking, "Wooooo!" is something that really transcends time and language. And it fits perfectly for today's #FlashbackFriday post! It was 10 years ago that I began my journey as a writer and host of the Dog Works Radio show, "The Sibe Vibe ! " I can remember so clearly Robert Forto - my producer and owner/producer of a family of Dog Works Radio shows, as well as the Alaskan Mushing team, Team Ineka - approached me with the idea to host a show about my five Siberian Huskies (fondly known as the #FiveSibes) and about the amazing Siberian Husky breed. At first, I balked. I'm a career photojournalist and author, and quite comfy BEHIND the lens of a camera, not in front of a microphone! But, Robert did convince me and what a glorious ride it has been~~from writing "The Five Sibes" catchy theme song to working with a designer on a logo that incorporates my FiveSibes as their cartoon characters featured in my F...

Summertime Sibe Happiness on a #FlashbackFriday

FiveSibes #Flashback ~ August 2015 ~ Harley   "Live in the sunshine.  Swim in the sea. Drink in the wild air."  ~Ralph Waldo Emerson   Oh, those fun summer days with my FiveSibes...I can close my eyes and be transported right back to a summertime day when I would open the door to let them all out on into the yard early in the morning and and feel and hear their excitement when I bring up their pools from the yard onto the deck! The zoomies, the woos, and the howls as they circled me excitedly, jumping in and out of the dry pool waiting for the water. As soon as the hose went on, it would always be our beautiful alpha queen Harley first in the water! Oh, how she loved to zoomie and growl and bite the water as it filled the pool! Her excitement was contagious as the other four would then join her, and I would just laugh at their shenanigans and no matter what, life was good! Little did I know then, that this would be the last summer of having five, as my Gibson...

A Visit From North of the Rainbow Bridge on a #FlashbackFriday

Image
Our beloved four FiveSibes furangels:  Bandit, Chloe, Harley & Gibson #Flashback Photo: Spring 2015     Do you believe in signs from our beloved departed dogs?   Today's Flashback goes back to the Summer Solstice, which if you are a Husky or northern breed dog parent, you probably already know that solstices and equinoxes are special times to light a candle and remember all of our dearly beloved pups who have made their journey to North of the Rainbow Bridge. (If you'd like to learn more, or to include your dog on the Sibernet's list, please visit the Siberian Husky Memorial Candle Lighting page HERE . The next candle lighting will be on the Autumn Equinox, August 22, 2021). The Summer Solstice, which was on June 20th this year, brought about today's wondrous story. The morning broke as usual in our house, with my daughter brewing coffee, Wolfie wooing to go out, and the grandkids laughing and screeching to their morning games and shows. After all the ini...
