We send loving woos and prayers to Thunder and hu-family along with the hopes of healing comfort and strength for Thunder in the days ahead. Thunder, we love you! And, yes, we believe in miracles.

It's Take Your Dog to Work Day!

Wooo! Friday, June 21st is the 15th anniversary of Take Your Dog to Work Day! Now, the FiveSibes are among the "working breed" dogs...but they like to do lots of things besides sledding...they are:
  • Official Taste Testers of all thing snacks,
  • Quality Control Officers for testing toys,
  • Professional Snoozers and Lickers,
  • Assistant Editors for my book projects (Bandit, pictured here, really likes those red pens for chewing, I mean editing!),
  • TV Specialists (they prefer Animal Planet),
  • Water Quality Testers (they check out the pool water for temperature and fun-ability), and
  • Linguistics Experts, having perfected the Husky "woo!"
They also love to take turns spending time with us in our home office, provided we have a good supply of treats, toys, and oh, yes, a comfy bed!
"Woo, Gib, how do you spell Epilepsy?"
Pictured here, Bandit has joined Gibson as part of my editorial team. She is proofing lots of stories sent in for my latest book on dogs with Epilepsy that is tentatively scheduled to be published later this year. As you can see, Bandit is pretty busy chatting with Gibson about some notes via speaker on her iPhone.

We Need Your Help...We Need Your Votes!

"Vote for me, please!"
Bandit is such a great assistant book editor, that I've submitted her photo below to the Take Your Dog To Work Day photo contest. We'd love it if you would vote for her! And if we win, we will receive $500 donation to a Husky shelter of our choice! Woo-hoo! Please vote for Bandit to help us help other Huskies in need! You can do so by visiting and voting HERE. (And if you could ask your furpals to vote for us, too, that would be just pawsome!)

So, do you take your pet to work with you?

To check out some tips on getting ready to bring your pet to the work place, be sure to read my article in the current issue, (Volume 2, Issue 2), of American Pet Magazine. Here's a sneak peak:

Have fun taking your pet to work!

Late night fireflies
Bright afternoons
Summer love
Every second spent
Thoughts race around
Chances well taken
Summer love
Soggy sand
Cool water
Warm hands

Newsy Tuesday: Gibson Says, Another Check Please for K-9 Epilepsy Awareness!

Epi-Husky "Gibson" of the FiveSibes says, "Thank Woo!" for helping us to raise funds for Canine Epilepsy Resources.

Wooo! Gibson and I are so happy to announce that we recently raised $180 more through our "Live Gib Strong" K-9 Epilepsy Awareness Campaign for the Canine Epilepsy Resources' EPIL-K9 Foundation for "Emma's Fund" bringing total contributions to date to $250! The campaign is on-going and a percentage of proceeds from my book will continue for the life of the book, so hopefully, our donations will continue to add up! The campaign consists of a percentage of proceeds from my children's book, What's Wrong With Gibson? Learning About K-9 Epilepsy, awareness bracelets, t-shirts, and straight donations.

Our "Gib Check"

So a huge "Thank You!" to all of you who help us promote Canine Epilepsy Awareness by purchasing my book and "Live Gib Strong" K-9 Epilepsy Awareness items, donating, and sharing our posts and videos! If you have not yet had a chance to purchase a book, one of the bracelets, or a t-shirt, you can do so at ArcticHouse Publishing.

This is a graphic from Canine Epilepsy Resources showing their receipt of our Gib Check under a photo of beautiful FurAngel "Emma," who the memorial fund is named after. The "Emma's Fund" is under the Neurology Department of the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine and is used to help the Neurology department with small projects and equipment. Read about what the funds actually fund HERE.

Who is Emma? Read HERE.

There are many other posts on this blog about Gibson and his journey with Canine Epilepsy. To read, visit HERE. You an also simply type in "Canine Epilepsy" and/or "Gibson" into blog's search box in the upper left hand corner.

Let us continue to bring awareness to others with the important message that with love and some special care...dogs can and do live happy, full lives with Canine Epilepsy.

I am also very proud to be a Purple Day Ambassador for Epilepsy (Canine) Awareness for the second year in my area. If through sharing Gibson's and other Epi-dogs stories and bringing awareness to Canine Epilepsy and seizure disorders can help even just one Epi-dog and hu-parent, then we've been successful! Education is key!

I will leave you with once again sharing my Purple Day 2013 Awareness video highlighting beautiful Epi-dogs worldwide. We hu-parents choose to have our beloved Epi-dogs wear purple and bring awareness to Canine Epilepsy, seizure disorders, and these amazing warrior dogs not just once a year, but the whole year through!

The Sibe Vibe Welcomes Some Pawsome Guests: Gone to the Snow Dogs, Arizona Siberian Husky Rescue & Adoption, The Sanctuary Project, and Operation Husky Rescue

Our "The Sibe Vibe" monthly radio show is doing really well and my co-host Robert Forto (of Dog Works Radio and Team Ineka) and I have been having lots of fun with it and every one of our guests has been terrific and full of information about Siberian Huskies and all things canine! Of course, we have you, our dedicated readers and listeners for making it so successful! We've had lots of fantastic guests on (check out our Dog Works Radio page HERE and our The Sibe Vibe blog HERE for a complete listing of previous shows you can tune in any time to listen to on your computer. I've been a little tardy in posting stories since we've been away from blogging as much as I used to because, as many of you know from previous postings, I've been focusing on healing our two Huskies, Gibson and Harley, through Conservative Care Management for torn CCLs, and it slow and time-consuming, but that's okay! Slow and easy is our motto right now for them. But, I hope to catch up posting soon as they heal as there's just so much news and info to share!

Jessica "Snow Dogs" Hatch
In March, we featured  Gone to the Snow Dogs, where  my stand-in co-host Michele Forto (of Team Ineka and Robert's wife) and I talked to the Husky vlog queen Jessica "Snow Dogs" Hatch all about her Huskies and the great Gone to the Snow Dogs YouTube videos she shares with everyone. Once you watch one, you'll be a fan, too! And a personal thanks from me and my FiveSibes to Jessica and her Snow Dogs as they were one of the first sites to help promote us when we came onto the social networking scene! So "woos" from the house of FiveSibes to the Gone to the Snow Dogs household!

Listen to stories about Oakley, Shelby, FurAngel Shiloh, and Baby Memphis!
Here's our show where Jessica talks all about how Gone to the Snow Dogs rose to YouTube fame!

In April, you can tune in when my co-host flips the mic around and talks with me all about my FiveSibes and how they became our family!

Listen in to this episode of Robert and I chatting about each of my FiveSibes:

Operation Husky Rescue

In May, we featured Ann Calano of the Arizona Siberian Husky Rescue (ASHRA) and Cyndi Cubillas of The Sanctuary Project who have been involved in "Operation Husky Rescue." These amazing folks saved over 50 Huskies from a breeder who was being evicted. Check out the show and each of their Facebook pages to see how these Huskies are doing.

If you haven't seen the rescue video, have some tissues ready! And the best part? They were able to rescue ALL of the Huskies! Woo!

And tune in to this episode of "The Sibe Vibe" as we chat with both Ann and Cyndi - amazing ladies doing some amazing work for dogs in need:

We hope you enjoyed our shows! Please be sure to visit each of their websites and say "hello!"
Until next time, be safe, be happy, and be loved!

Update on Gibson's Conservative Care Management for a Torn CCL

Here's my boy Gibson just relaxing at the vet's today. It's one of his favorite places to visit! He went in for his K-LaserUSA treatment for his torn Cranial Cruciate Ligament (CCL - ACL in humans) and weak hind end issues. And...it was also his annual check-up and we received some great news...as most of you know, we've been doing Conservative Care Management (CCM - also sometimes called Conservative Care Treatment), which included the laser treatments and his wearing a Woundwear stability brace (that he is now wearing just on long walks) for his CCL tear. Since he's an Epi-Husky (canine epileptic), we wanted to hold off on surgery if we could to see if CCM would be beneficial to him without surgery...and today, after almost 6 months of rehab under CCM, the vet said his knee with the CCL tear is getting a little tighter! Woo! I was so excited to hear this. Continuing with  the CCM for the CCL - s.l.o.w. and e.a.s.y - that's our motto!

To read my initial Conservative Care story
visit HERE
To read my last update on our "rehab unit" visit HERE

While checking out the K-LaserUSA site, be sure to visit the videos section and if you click on the eighth thumbnail, you can see Gibson getting a treatment!

We sincerely thank everyone for their continued support, cards, and well wishes for our Husky kids. They certainly feel all the love and send their "wooos" of thanks, too!
