What's This  #WaitingWednesday
Blog Hop All About?

It's about becoming a "village" to help rescues, homeless Huskies, and all abandoned pets of any species in need. It's also to share breed information to help educate folks so they understand the traits, habits, and needs of specific breeds, such as the Siberian Husky, BEFORE they welcome one into their home to ensure the home will be a forever one. Please check out our recent post HERE where I talk all about this new important Blog Hop!

How You Can Join in Our Weekly "Village" to  Help Homeless Pets...

Write a blog post (or Facebook or Instagram post) highlighting a rescue (you can do a different one each week!) along with some photos of the rescue's adoptable animals (dogs, cats, horses, bunnies--any species) along with a little info on the pet and the rescue's contact information.

***Grab our badge here and link to our blog, add your post's link to the Linky list, and join in the hop to help homeless animals! Link List is open all week for your convenience!***

While we here at FiveSibes randomly select rescues to highlight, if you are with a non-profit rescue of northern breed dogs (and mixes of both), and want to be sure I feature your rescue, please send me your info and some of your adoptables to highlight in an upcoming “Waiting Wednesday” post! Feel free to Email info and photos to FiveSibes(at)gmail(dot)com and put "Waiting Wednesday Adoptable" in subject line!

"Northern California Sled Dog Rescue (NorSled) is an all-volunteer non-profit group dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and finding new homes for unwanted, abused and abandoned Siberian Huskies, Alaskan Malamutes, Samoyeds, and Northern-breed mixes."

NorSled Mission Statement

"Rescuing, rehabilitating, fostering and finding homes for unwanted, abandoned and abused Northern breed dogs: Siberian Huskies, Alaskan Malamutes, Samoyeds, and mixes of these breeds."

Service Area

"Northern California Sled Dog Rescue (NorSled) covers many Northern California counties including: Alameda, Butte, Contra Costa, Glenn, Humboldt, Kern, Lake, Marin, Mendocino, Napa, Sacramento, Solano, Sonoma, Sutter, Yolo, and Yuba. The territory covered by NorSled is approximately 70,702 square miles with a population of about 12,839,947. This area is larger and more populated than some States and even some Countries! NorSled "averages rehoming 200 dogs a year! NorSled works directly with shelters in these areas, and also if there is space, shelters in other Northern California areas, Central California and Western Nevada. In some circumstances NorSled may take owner surrenders, but usually we work through the shelter system. We work closely with other Nordic breed rescues in other areas, and can refer owners in crisis to the rescue nearest them."

Celebrating 20 Years and Over 3000 Saved!
"The Free Spirit Siberian Rescue opened its doors in 1999 with the intention of rescuing and finding a home for every husky/husky mix in need of rescue. Fast forward twenty years later, and FSSR has saved over 3000 dogs by helping them find their forever homes!"

I had the pleasure of having Karen Ferreri-Miller, president of Free Spirit Siberian Rescue on a Summer 2016 episode of "The Sibe Vibe" on Dog Works Radio! Tune in here any time to listen to a great show and learn all about this amazing rescue! You can also listen to this show and all of my episodes on iTunes, and on the Podcast app for iPhone and iPad!

Also, please be sure to read a very important and informative blog article wrote, #BreedEducate2Relate: It Takes A Village to Help Huskies in Need about the explosion of Siberian Huskies being abandoned and to become on educated on the breed before welcoming one into a home, as well as an equally important companion article in 4Knines titled Siberian Husky Rescues: A Heartfelt Mission to Help the Homeless. I hope if you have not read these, you will and share with others, too.
