Healing Through Laser Therapy ~ And~ Our November #LiveGibStrong Epi-Tip #8

Image
Here's Gibson's video of when he first began his K-LaserUSA treatments a little over four years ago, and has helped him tremendously over the years with bouts of weak hind end issues, torn CCL, and arthritis.   Today, Gibson has in-home K-Laser treatments as he was rehabbed most of the year for lameness after a fall. While it is day-by-day helping him gain more and more strength in his hind end and legs, with being in Epi-meds, it's a continuous rollercoaster of weak hind end, weak legs, treatment, healing, walking, and back to weakness again. Currently, the treatments have helped him to once again become mobile, without assistance, while reducing pain and inflammation. Since his weak hind issues are a chronic condition, I have him on a continuous treatment schedule to hopefully offset some of his weakness and keep him walking and pain free.   Issues K-Laser Treatments Can Help *: Rhinits, sinusitis Gingivitis, stomatitis and tooth extractions...

#LiveGibStrong Epi-Tip #8: Healing Through Therapeutic Laser Therapy

Image
Many of you know and have followed Gibson's treatments for weak hind end issues, including his current bout of right rear leg lameness. K-Laser therapy administered by my veterinarian staff is just amazing and has really helped Gibson with the side effects from the meds such as weak hind end issues, strained muscles, torn CCLs, and arthritis. Since one of Gibson's Epilepsy medications are Phenobarbital, which can affect the liver, it's very important for me to not overload him with more medications for his liver to have to process. It's a great non-invasive holistic method of healing. Below is the video we created of Gibson receiving his treatment, which is like a spa day for him! If you haven't thought about laser therapy, check with your vet about this being an option for your dog. To read more about K-Laser therapy, visit My K-Lasaer Pet.com , where you'll find our video of Gibson (below) also listed! Don't forget to visit our auction to benefi...

Update on Gibson: Lovin' Life!

Image
Update on Gibson: Today was Gibson's in-home K-LaserUSA therapy treatment and he had lots of kisses for one of his fave vet techs. After a little rest, we took a brief walk and relaxed together on the front lawn. He can only walk a very short distance, but this is such a huge achievement, it just swells my heart!  Back story for folks who may not know: Gibson lives with weak hind end issues as a side effect of his epilepsy meds, and Christmas Eve he slipped on ice during a snow storm and went down, became lame, and has CCL tears. He was on meds, in a leg brace, a lift harness, supplements, and continuous in-home laser treatments. After a month-and-a-half, the leg brace came off (okay, he chewed it off), and we have continued with the lift-harness and laser herapy sessions. To view previous posts on Gibson's journey, visit HERE , and a little later on HERE . Just a few weeks ago we hit a big milestone as he was ready to start on brief solo walks sans harness! ...

Of Injuries, Rehab, and Healing of Huskies

Image
Love is...sharing rehab together! 'Tis the season for rehabbing Huskies here...I haven't done an update in quite some time, so I thought I'd bring everyone up to speed on what's happening here. As you recall, Chloe, who was just four years old, had double bilateral cruciate imbrication surgery last summer. She, I am happy to report, is progressing nicely! Where she had no ability to stand or walk after collapsing from a simple jump up on the bed only to discover she had shredded both hind CCLs and mensiscuses (deemed most likely from a genetic problem as she was from an irresponsible breeder). While there is a hitch to her gait now, she now can jump up on furniture, counter surf (which we discourage, however, seeing her stand up on the counter for the first time in almost a year was just wonderful! So I reached for my camera to capture it!), run with her with siblings, and even kick up dirt with her hind legs! Oh happy days! Gibson also tore his CCL while pla...

A Little R&R for Gibson

Image
Wolf keeping big bro Gibson company while he heals. So a little update on my Epi-Husky, Gibson. We've had a little setback with is weak hind end issues as a result of his Epi-meds. He is currently lame in his right leg. After an exam by the vet, his leg is okay and it seems he has a bit of arthritis developing in his hip, which we knew about and he is on natural supplements for. It is our thought that after his Epi-med reduction of the Potassium Bromide (remember his bout of severe toxicity a while back due to the pharmaceutical company changing capsule formulation?) he has become - thankfully - much more alert and energetic, so much so that he is running and jumping, and engaging in "polar bearing" with the other Sibes. It's our belief that he overtaxed his hip. He is currently on rest, a round of NSAIDs, and - bless our vet team - he will be receiving in-home K-LaserUSA treatments several times this week so I can keep him resting and not try to...

Holistic Healing of a Husky Through Laser Therapy

Image
Gibson is checking himself out in an edition of a regional newspaper!    Why is Gibson featured? I wrote an article that was published in a newspaper about K-Laser USA Therapy  and the healing effects is has on animals, and one such patient is my boy, Gibson. Gibson had been experiencing some severe hind end weakness, including inability to take stairs, splaying when he walked on floors, and having a difficult time getting up. Since he is an Epi-dog and on a medicine regiment, helping him to heal without medication was my hope. I'm fortunate in that I have a wonderful veterinarian team and a lead veterinarian who is leading the way in our area with this type of alternative holistic healing and pain treatment.    Gibson waiting for his treatment next to poster of how it works.   Today, a large number of us pet parents seeks out alternative, or holistic, methods to treat our own health concerns and now turn to those same methods for our pets’ illness...
