Meet Maddie, an Adoptable Epi All Star!

Image
Meet beautiful Maddie! Maddie currently lives at Husky House Siberian Husky & Fellow K-9 Rescue in New Jersey. She is a sweet eight-year-old Husky/mix who was diagnosed with idiopathic Canine Epilepsy when she was four. In true Epi-dog form, Maddie does not let seizures keep her from enjoying the things she loves, such as food, tennis balls, and snuggling!  As I've always said, dogs with Canine Epilepsy, with a little extra care and lots of love, can live full happy lives! And just look at that happy, smiling face of Maddie's! She is just waiting for her forever family to come and get her! Husky House does stipulate, "Maddie needs a home that can dedicate the time and energy to figuring out her epilepsy. Maddie currently experiences cluster seizures requiring hospitalization at times despite the use of at-home rescue meds. She will need a calm, patient, loving family who can understand and help he with her medical issues." Could that family be you...

We are once again participating as remote hikers to spread the word about Canine Epilepsy Awareness and rescue Huskies in need for the annual Tails of the Tundra Siberian Husky Rescue 's "Tails on the Trails" Dog Walk and Festival and we need you ! As remote hikers, we are walking to help spread the word that dogs who have Canine Epilepsy, like my Gibson, are not defined nor limited by the disease. Epi-dogs (Canine Epileptics) can ~ and DO ~ live full, happy lives. They do not let seizures stop them from what a dog does best - enjoy life! What a wonderful inspiration and example they are for us!  What our Pledge Page looks like. Click HERE. Shout It! Shout It! Shout It Out Loud! To help spread the word about our #LiveGibStrong Canine Epilepsy Awareness and rescue Huskies in need, we are hiking for pledges to help benefit the Huskies TOTTSHR saves! The "Itchy 21 Huskies" - The Road from Hoarding Hell to Happiness and Health

Image
There truly are angels among us. Photo via Pet Angels Rescue, Inc. You may have heard about the “Itchy 21 Huskies" backyard breeder case in Oklahoma, where there was a hoarding situation with 21 Huskies and/or Husky mixes who were in extremely poor health, including parasites and a contagious form of mange. Pet Angels Rescue network worked tirelessly, along with the Sheriff’s department, to convince the owners of these dogs to surrender them so the rescue could see to it that they received the urgent health care they obviously needed. Thanks to the Siberian Husky Care and Referral Service, we learned of this situation and have joined them to share this story, and hopefully our readers will share as well. According to Pet Angels Rescue, Inc. on their YouCaring fundariser page , “We had to scramble into action as we had learned these dogs had a contagious form of mange and could not share the acre with the other rescued animals. So Wednesday we ...

Image
Our "The Sibe Vibe" monthly radio show is doing really well and my co-host Robert Forto (of Dog Works Radio and Team Ineka ) and I have been having lots of fun with it and every one of our guests has been terrific and full of information about Siberian Huskies and all things canine! Of course, we have you, our dedicated readers and listeners for making it so successful! We've had lots of fantastic guests on (check out our Dog Works Radio page HERE and our The Sibe Vibe blog HERE for a complete listing of previous shows you can tune in any time to listen to on your computer. I've been a little tardy in posting stories since we've been away from blogging as much as I used to because, as many of you know from previous postings, I've been focusing on healing our two Huskies, Gibson and Harley, through Conservative Care Management for torn CCLs, and it slow and time-consuming, but that's okay! Slow and easy is our motto right now for them. But, I hope to c...
