It's one of those lazy, chilly, windy Saturdays here and a perfect day for catching up on some Christmas specials! And we have a very special little guest...my little "grandson" Hunter! Hunter is my daughter's best friend's son. They've been friends since they were one and two years old! Since she's like my other daughter, I have the honor of being Hunter's "G-ma!" He's just chillin' here with Gibson watching some holiday cartoons!

Here the Sibe kids were really into Hallmark's "Jingle" the Husky pup's animated movie!

Chloe loved "Jingle!"

Harley was snoozing, but peeked at the Husky puppies!

New KyJen Dog Games Beats Canine Boredom!

Gibson is keeping this toy all to himself!

KyJen did it again! They've come up with some  great puzzles to not only keep our dogs busy, but challenge their mind and skills too! We received two new totally "pawsome" dog games from KyJen to review, their super cool Moon Rover Rescue Ball where the object is for our fupal to try and get the squeaky blue moon rover toys from rolling around inside the larger six inch blue rubber ball. It's very challenging! (Shh...I gave Gib a little help!) It's price is right around the $19.99 range, and definitely worth it for the hours of fun entertainment it provides! Gibson really loves playing with this "ball!" He is our resident puzzle expert and he rose to the challenge with great interest! To add a little more fun, I added a treat. The funny part, Gib was way more interested in getting the rover out than the treat! 

Yes! That squeaky rover does fit in that ball!

As you will see from the video below that shows just how entertained they are from these toys, he even picked it up and brought it over to his bed, claiming this toy his! This is going to be a favorite for a long time to come! No boredom here with this toy. Gibson gives the Moon Rover Rescue Ball a four-paws up rating!

Chloe found the treat!

Chloe and Harley were excited to play with the Paw Flapper puzzle where treats are hidden inside and the dog's challenged to not only open up the flap to try and find the treat, but there is a wheel that rotates inside hiding the treat, so they must also learn how to turn the wheel while sniffing out the treat in one of the chambers under the "flap." This game ranges $17.99 in price, and it's the second KyJen puzzle we have (we previously tried and reviewed their Paw Hide game).

This game really puts their superb sniffing to the test! At first I thought the rotating wheel might prove to tough a challenge, but it just made it all the more fun for the Sibe mind! A challenged canine mind is never a bored one! Chloe and Harley give the Paw Flapper puzzle a four-paws up rating each! So if you are looking for a last minute Christmas present, or if your pup's birthday is coming up (we have four birthdays in January), or are even planning ahead to their Valentines Day present, the FiveSibes highly recommend you check out these KyJen toys available in many stores and online through Amazon and the KyJen  website. (Shhh...don't tell the Sibes, but they are each getting a KyJen Long Body Gator Squeaker Mat toy this Christmas!)

Puppies Are Not Toys! And An ASPCA Holiday Gift Pack Giveaway!

This holiday season, we are joining in the effort to educate folks on not getting puppies or dogs for a Christmas present unless they've fully done their homework on the breed...and not to buy one from a pet store (and not to support puppy mills). Please take a few minutes to take the ASPCA's "No Pet Store Puppies" pledge and share with others in case they are not aware. If  you know of someone who is not aware of what puppy mills are, have them check out the Humane Society of America's website. A puppy mill is no life for a dog. If we all join together to reinforce the information that too many puppies are given for gifts for the "awwww" factor, then are sadly dumped or abandoned soon after the last of the decorations are packed away, then maybe we can save a life. If you know of someone who is thinking about giving a child a puppy this holiday season, please consider sharing information and links on the breed with them. Puppies and dogs should be members of a family for life...not just for the holidays. If you know of someone who has been seriously thinking about welcoming a dog into their family, but are not 100% positive, why not suggest  they foster one from a local shelter or rescue. They will be giving that dog some special time and attention with a family, and it can help the decision of if a dog is right for them...and they could fall in love with the rescue furbaby! Oh, what a happy ending story that would be!

Please be sure to pass along Dogster's "A Puppy is not a Present" awareness campaign. Folks can check out their website HERE. And, according to Dogster,  "A Puppy should never be:

1. A novelty item.

So many people fall in love with the Siberian Husky for their beauty, but they do not realize they are high energy, heavy shedders, can be very destructive, and some are great howlers. If someone does not have the room or patience for these types of traits, a Husky is NOT for them, no matter how beautiful or cute the Husky  may be as a puppy. No matter which breed it is, everyone loves a puppy, but puppies are baby dogs and they turn into adult dogs. They teethe. They chew up things. They cry. They make a mess. They need attention, care, training, and love. They are a lifetime commitment that will bring you more joy and happiness than you can even imagine...and they will love you and be devoted to you for the rest of their lives. So they deserve the very same!

Our hearts are so very heavy with sadness for the families of the Connecticut schoolchildren and teachers who lost their lives in the tragic elementary school shooting today. Flashback to Christmas time 2007: Gibson, just shy of being two years old, and Harley, a few months shy of turning three, are all decked out in reindeer antlers ready to pull Santa's sleigh! Okay, Gibson is and Harley is just thinking "get these ridiculous ears off of me!"

I love this photo of our "married" couple...it really shows their personality even at an early age: Gibson's silliness and Harley's queenliness - traits they both still have today that bring so much love and joy (and laughs) into our lives!

We were so thrilled to have Buddy, the Christmas Husky and his Momma Shay on our holiday episode of our "The Sibe Vibe" radio show where they were our very special guests! You can read all about Buddy's long journey from an abandoned, shot, starving, and injured Husky who was saved from walking in traffic and the incredible journey to a happy, fairly healthy beautiful boy. And, if you listen carefully, you'll hear Buddy give us a "Haroo!" or two!

It's Looking A Lot Like Christmas!

It's 12/12/12!!!

'Twas a couple weeks before Christmas and all the holiday critters came out of hibernation...

We know it's Christmas time when the Christmas Huskies and sled is set up!

Binx even joined in the fun stepping inside the foyer to check out Mr. Singing Snowman...although at first he was a bit surprised to see it!  

Inside the house, Queen Harley supervised the decorating of the tree!

Bandit had fun hiding under the kitchen nook table behind the large artificial Pointsettia plant! Peek-a-boo, silly BandaBear, we see you!

We love Christmas cards and are so happy to be part of the Blogville Christmas Card Exchange again this year! Gibson is our resident "postmaster" and loves to give each card a good sniff before we put them up. Funny part - to date, our family has 4 cards while the FiveSibes and Binx have 53!

The new indoor Huskies and sleigh was the hit of the season! Chloe seemed to like them!

Gibson and Wolf grew sleepy dreaming of Santa leaving them and the other Sibe kids treats in the Huskies' sleigh under the tree!

Bandit just wanted to snuggle on "her" recliner with some of her favorite toys.
