Giddyup! Celebrating Day of the Cowboy/Cowgirl on a Flashback Friday!

Image
My FiveSibes in a flashback Western portrait I created: (l-r) Wild West Wolf, Badlands Bandit, Prairie Girl Chloe, Saloon Madam Harley, and Marshall Gentleman Gib decked out in their Western finest in front of an old abandoned (and maybe haunted?) house in Upstate, NY. This was such a fun photoshoot! Yahoo! National Day of the Cowboy (and Cowgirl) was July 28th this year (held on the fourth Saturday of July), and if you know me, you will know that I am the daughter of a cowboy who broke in wild mules in Montana during the 1930s as a youth when he was in the Conservation Corps and stationed there. Fast forward 40 years, and my dad moved my family out of the suburbs of Queens, New York to 10-acres of land atop a mountain in Upstate, New York, where he added a few head of horses, most he rescued, to our growing newbie country family! While my father passed away from a massive heart attack just three short years after we moved and while he was setting up our ranch, I was so fortunate...

Welcome to the 5Sibes Ranch! We're Celebrating Hu-Nanny's 94th Birthday, Cowgirl-Style at the Blogville Rodeo! Ye-Hah!

Marshall Gentleman Gib is in town! Yee-hah! What a fantastic day today is!!! First, it's the FiveSibes Hu-Nanny's 94th Birthday!!! Woooo! And what better way to celebrate than cowgirl-style in our Blogville's Rodeo! The horses are saddled up, we've packed up our gear, and ready to head out on the trails for a some good ol' fashioned cowboy and cowgirl fun! So let's move 'em on up, ride 'em out, and keep those doggies movin' as we head on out on the range for some rodeo fun! My father was a cowboy in Montana during his youth when he was serving in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCCs). In his spare time, he "broke in" - trained - wild mules and horses. When I was 11,  my family traded in the city life and moved to upstate New York and on a parcel of 10-acres of land. Right after our house was built, the first thing my dad did was bring home some horses! Our very first one - Tennessee - was a 23-year-old Standardbred Pacer who was sl...

Merry Christmas! It's Time for a Sleigh Ride!

Image
Merry Christmas to all of our furpals and their hu-families! We wish you all the merriest the season has to offer and the brightest of new years. While we reflect back on this year, let's all celebrate how lucky we are to have our furbabies in our lives. Let us also take a few moments to remember the many furpals who are now celebrating Christmas in the big, beautiful snowy meadow beyond the Rainbow Bridge, and those who are homeless. May animals everywhere get their wish this Christmas for a warm place to sleep, bowls filled with food, and hugs by humans whose hearts are filled with love. We are all so fortunate to have forged wonderful, caring relationships here in our pet community.  Thank you to all who joined in our Christmas Canines & Friends Sleigh Ride! The FiveSibes and I had so much fun putting our sleigh ride together and meeting so many gorgeous furbabies from across the globe! So after the presents have been opened, gather your hu- and furfamily around and enj...
