Spring Ahead With Daylight Saving Time: Seasonal Health & Safety Tips

Image
Gibson knows what time it is!   Wooo! It's Daylight Saving Time (DST) for many areas of the world, and for us, tomorrow morning (Sunday, March 9) at 2 AM, we "spring" our clocks ahead an hour, which means...Spring is on its way with daylight giving us longer days to have more fun  to run and play in the yard, go for hikes, long walks, BBQ lots of nom-noms, and swims in the pool. It's also the perfect time to remember some seasonal health and safety tips: PET MEDICATIONS TIME : If your pet is on specifically timed medications (like our Epi-Husky Gibson who is on meds he must take 12 hours apart), you can help reset your pet's internal clock for these medications by staggering them by a half-hour starting on Sunday. Example: If your pet had been receiving their dosages at 7:30 AM before DST, then under the first day of the new time, give it to them at 8:00 AM*; then do the same for the PM dosage. On the se...

It's Our 4th Blogiversary! Come Celebrate!

Image
We are so excited! Four years ago today we debuted our FiveSibes™ blog featuring our alpha queen, Harley, flashing her pearly white Sibe smile in our very first post "February is Canine Dental Health Month!"    It's so hard to believe it's been four years already - I guess what they say is so true, time does indeed fly when you're having fun. We are thrilled to be rated one of the Top Siberian Husky Websites globally , and we have you all to thank for that recognition! The Sibe kids and I have made so many wonderful friends here in Blogville and we are very proud to be part of this amazing community. We look forward to the next four years! So, what's an anniversary without presents? To help us celebrate, we're holding a Rafflecopter giveaway for a chance for two to snag one of our (we think) pretty cool FiveSibes "The Sibe Vibe" Dog Works Radio show T-shirts featuring the adorable cartoon version of our Sibe kids created ...

Courage Doesn't Always Roar

Image
As many of you know, my beautiful 8-year-old wooly boy, Gibson, is an Epi-dog, having been diagnosed shortly after his third birthday with idopathic epilepsy. Since then, he and I have embarked upon a "Live Gib Strong K9 Epilepsy Awareness Campaign" to help others understand Epi-dogs can and do live happy, full lives. He suffers from weak hind issues for years as a result of his meds, but we work through it with laser therapy, diet, light exercise, home massage, supplements, sling harness when necessary, and this past Christmas he slipped on ice and tore a CCL, which I am treating with through Conservative Care Management and the aid of an Woundwear A-Trac Stability brace and a GingerLead Dog Support & Rehabilitation Harness.  (review to come). Gibson is amazing...his spirit and will unwavering. He has the courage of a lion. Every step of progress he makes, just makes my day! I've been reporting periodic updates of his progress, which is slow and steady a...

Flashback Friday: Belated Thank You of Love

Image
With all the rehabbing going on, we're terribly behind in our posts. One of the things I want to play catch-up on is my "thank yous" so I will be trying to do that and hopefully get back into blogging on a more timely fashion and getting back to visiting all your blogs, too, as my furkids continue to recuperate. First up, we'll start with Valentine's Day and the Pupster's birthday as they are most recent...a big "thank woo" goes out to Holly and the Huskies for their wonderful and thoughtful gifts for Valentine's Day and Wolf, Chloe, and Bandit's sixth birthday in January. They had a wonderful time opening up their presents, and I think they know who the packages are from when they come as they get all excited! With rehab being the top priority here since Halloween...what a wonderful surprise and treat for the furkids to have!    "Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who m...
