Epilepsy Day: Debut of "Gib Nibs" to Benefit The Wally Foundation & A Treat Giveaway!

Image
Today, on international Epilepsy Day, we are so excited to announce the debut of the brand new “Gib Nibs” – a hand-crafted, gluten-free dog treat made by Nanette Willis, a Husky mom, United States Military wife, and the owner and baker at Sassy’s Goodies (with the Epi-dog (epileptic dog) in mind. And…a giveaway, too! Read about that a bit later in this post and be sure to enter! After several discussions between Nanette and I on what Gibson had in his diet, and the ingredients that could and should not be in an Epi-dog’s treat, Gib Nibs was born! And I am so honored that Nanette is naming them after my beloved boy, the forever #LiveGibStrong K-9 Epilepsy ambassador, Gibson!  Nanette, whose physical Sassy’s Goodies bakery is located in Springfield, MO and online store at sassysgoodies.com/ , was excited to join in our #LiveGibStrong K-9 Epilepsy Awareness and educational campaign to help other dogs living with seizures and their caregivers, and she has graciousl...

Pizza, Football & #FiveSibes Flashback Friday!

Image
Woo! Welcome back to our FiveSibes Flashback Friday! It has been some long winter for so many of us. While normally, winter would be a wonderful thing having Siberian Huskies and all, but this year, Mother Nature slammed us with lots of frigid temps and ice, making it not so much fun. Plus, the sick bug has gone around my house several times, and these past few weeks I have been under the weather from my compromised immune system, for which I am currently being detoxed for (not fun). But, having my grandson and the four FiveSibes here keep me amused and happy!  In honor of today's National Pizza Day (and boy, do Harley, Wolf, Chloe, and Bandit love their "pizza bones!"), we had the best pizza we ever (pictured above) homemade by my daughter and son-in-law. Yumm-MMM! And what goes really great with pizza? Football and Puppy Bowl day! Here's our Flashback to this past Big Game Day weekend!  Our Chloe girl was catching a few Husky zzzzs during the pre-game s...

Help Protect Your Pet From Theft

Image
F ebruary 14th is a month all about love, but did you know that this date is also very important to care for your beloved pet in another way? It is also Pet Theft Awareness Day. Each year, on February 14th, Last Chance for Animals (LCA) , a non-profit animal advocacy organization, helps educate the public about the theft of family pets with informational public service announcements and tips. According to LCA, “Nearly two million companion animals are stolen each year. Many of these animals are sold to research laboratories, dog-fighting rings, or puppy mills, where they are abused and often killed.”   So, this month, let’s use the time to go over some of the important ways to help protect your beloved pet:   Microchipping . We all have heard those wonderful stories where lost pets are found and reunited with loved ones, thanks to a microchip! Have you moved or changed phone numbers recently? Be sure to update the information with your microchip company and v...

Is it Spring Yet?

Image
So, today's FiveSibes Monday Meme hits pretty close to home, and it should really say "Not feeling good AGAIN ?" What a winter this has been here! It's been 10 days since I've been here in Blogville! First, as you know from a previous post, I was sick through all the holidays with bronchitis, and then I just started to feel better and Wham! I was slammed with a nasty stomach flu. Ugh! And no sooner was I feeling better, then I had a relapse. Double Ugh! This photo is pretty much the scene here for over a month! Having a compromised immune system due to my RA and Fibromyalgia, I can get sick more easily and it takes me longer to fight it off. I am so thankful that Harley, Wolf, Bandit, and Chloe sure are great company and they have stayed right by me through it all. Today, I headed out for the first time since getting over the stomach bug, and let me tell you...I craved socialization so much that it was fun to go to my chiropractor just so I could talk with hum...

Birthday Trifecta! Our Pupsters Turn 10!

Image
Woo! It is a special day here; a trifecta of birthdays!!! Our #FiveSibes “Pupsters” Chloe, Wolfgang, and Bandit turn 10!!! It seems like only yesterday we brought them home at 2 months old to join our 3-year-old Harley and 2-year-old Gibson...and our FiveSibes Family was born! I can’t believe it was a decade ago!  There is something so special about raising three littermates; watching them grow up together and knowing they will never be separated. They have such a close bond! To this day, they do everything in tandum, including "potty off the deck!" This Flashback Friday photo is from when they had their first bath and would snuggle up to each other to nap! Raising three Husky puppies at the same time, along with two young Huskies, has been such a joy! Sometimes a bit chaotic, but so much fun! And, oh, the love and Husky kisses: priceless!  Here are some more pics from today's Birthday celebration! "Happy Birthday to you..." Mama...
