Wrapped Up in Ribbon on #FlashbackFriday

Image
FiveSibes Christmas Flashback 2015 Our dear sweet pupster Chloe. I don't think there could have been a more kinder, sweeter, oblivious Husky! Chloe was a perpetually happy Husky, always talking with her tail always wagging, her eyes always bright, and I swear that girl was always smiling. Of course, I think she believed a treat was always at the end of a greeting, but regardless, Chloe was our pack's sweetheart. She was also the one that  innocently always found herself in mischief or trouble. Always palling around with her brother and sister Wolf and Bandit, she would be the one to get tangled up in something that always left us laughing. Case in point, today's flashback photo...as we were turning around to gather up the ribbons for the tree trimming, this is how we found Chloe! Somehow, she managed to get the curly ribbons twirled all around her. I am writing this with a smile on my face, chuckling at the memory. With feeling sad as this is the first Christmas wi...

Sponsor a Husky for the Holidays!

Image
Welcome back to our #WaitingWednesday Blog Hop, where we highlight rescues and feature some of their adoptable dogs and dogs waiting for a foster home! While we here at FiveSibes, focus on Siberian Huskies and northern breeds, the Blog Hop is open to ALL breeds and species, and stories of your own adopted pets and where you adopted them from, so I hope you will join in and highlight some rescues near and dear to your heart and hop along with us! This week, our feature is slightly different...instead of highlighting adotopables, we want to encourage folks who can't adopt yet to consider helping Huskies in shelters and rescues a different way...by sponsoring one! Check with your local or favorite rescue or shelter and see if there is a homeless Husky you can befriend over the holidays and bring it some treats, dog food, a new toy, or  maybe the rescue/shelter staff can let you know if the dog needs shampoo, vitamins, heartworm medication, etc. You can also bring lots...

Thoughts of Gibson on His Rainbow Bridge Day

Image
Four years ago today, my heart broke when I lost my furry best friend..my heart dog, Gibson. đź’ś We had such a special, deep soul  connection that comes along so rarely. He was a true gentle giant, a loving dog, a deep soul. Gib was a true warrior, facing and conquering challenges from his epilepsy with courage and determination, and never diminishing his zest for life. Gibson inspired me to lead a crusade in his name to this very day, including authoring two books and many articles, and becoming the face of dog treats made for dogs with epilepsy, all in an effort to help and educate others about Canine Epilepsy. His love for me, for Harley, for his whole pack family was so true. This boy loved life so much. Forever would not have been long enough to share life with this incredible dog. He truly left his big furry polar bear pawprint forever on my heart. Helen of Troy’s face may have a launched a thousand ships, but Gibson of FiveSibes face launched a worldwide awareness campa...

You probably know all about the Elf on a Shelf that has been taking over homes during the Christmas season by storm, and here, Santa Paws has been peeking in to see if our grandson and our FiveSibes pupsters Wolfie and Bandit have been naughty or nice this Christmas season. We assure Santa that excitement is growing for his big appearance on December 25th, and everyone has been on his Nice List! But just to be sure...he checked in for himself, then gave a wink before slipping back out to the North Pole! I think the Elf was having a bit of fun riding my grandson's Husky dog stuffie! *This post includes an Amazon affiliate links, which simply means if you click on the link and make a purchase, we will receive a small compensation at no extra cost to you!  If you'd like one of these sweet fluffy FAO Schwarz plushie Huskies (yes, THAT FAO Schwarz...the wondrously magical huge toy store of New York City's Fifth Avenue fame (now at Rockefeller Plaza)...or if you have not ...
