A Mobile App to Track Your Pet's Epilespy ~And~ Our #LiveGibStrong Epi-Tip #10!

Image
"Woo! This app is so easy and very helpful!"   Have you heard? There's a great mobile app for Canine Epilepsy developed by the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) in the United Kingdom called the RVC Pet Epilepsy Tracker ! And Epi-dogs all over can benefit from it! The first of its kind, the app's contents were designed by the RVC Canine Epilepsy Research team members, Professor Holger Volk, Clinical Director of the RVC’s Small Animal Referral Clinic and Specialist in Neurology and Neurosurgery, and Dr. Rowena Packer, Clinical Investigations Postdoctoral Researcher at RVC. The RVC Pet Epilepsy Tracker was developed in collaboration with the Epilepsy Society , a human charity who had created a successful tracker app for people with Epilepsy. Funding for t he app was provided by several sources: an educational grant from Boehringer Ingelheim, Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) Sparking Impact award , and a donation from the suppor...

Healing Through Laser Therapy ~ And~ Our November #LiveGibStrong Epi-Tip #8

Image
Here's Gibson's video of when he first began his K-LaserUSA treatments a little over four years ago, and has helped him tremendously over the years with bouts of weak hind end issues, torn CCL, and arthritis.   Today, Gibson has in-home K-Laser treatments as he was rehabbed most of the year for lameness after a fall. While it is day-by-day helping him gain more and more strength in his hind end and legs, with being in Epi-meds, it's a continuous rollercoaster of weak hind end, weak legs, treatment, healing, walking, and back to weakness again. Currently, the treatments have helped him to once again become mobile, without assistance, while reducing pain and inflammation. Since his weak hind issues are a chronic condition, I have him on a continuous treatment schedule to hopefully offset some of his weakness and keep him walking and pain free.   Issues K-Laser Treatments Can Help *: Rhinits, sinusitis Gingivitis, stomatitis and tooth extractions...

A Wedding, A Birthday, and An Epi-Tip, All on a Flashback Friday!

Image
I'm having such a proud Momma moment here! For this special installment of our FiveSibes Flashback Friday, we're flashing back to last Saturday, October 31st, Halloween, when my daughter and very best friend (think Gilmore Girls in the real world!) and her fiance were married! It was a beautiful Autumn day, with the trees in full orange, yellow, and red glory. The sun was shining brightly, and a cool breeze was blowing as they said "I do" in a simply beautiful setting in Mother Nature's backyard complete with a cascading waterfall and Autumn leaves falling all around them. It was truly a picture perfect day! Even our FiveSibes sensed the excitement in the air! Pictured above Gibson and little brother Wolf greeted the new Mr. and Mrs. and really enjoyed sniffing my daughter's fall-themed rose bouquet! I wish them all the love and happiness in the world! I've been truly blessed with the most amazing, kind, loving, and beautiful girl who has been my buddy s...

Since it's Throwback Thursday, it's a great time to tune in to my "The Sibe Vibe" Dog Works Radio show dating back to November of 2012 for Epilepsy Awareness Month, when I chat with Marion Mitchell co-owner of the non-profit Canine Epilepsy Resources ( www.Canine-Epilepsy.com ), home of the Epil-K9 List, and founder of the "Emma's Seizure Fund" named after her Epi Dalmatian, Emma. On this episode we have an in-depth discussion with Marion about all things relating to Canine Epilepsy, including: the types of seizures, the treatments–both holistic and medications, the importance of diet, quality of life for Epi-dogs and some of the alternative treatments available for dogs with this disease. "Emma Mitchell" Come on back, tomorrow!
