FBF: Huskies on a Frigid Friday Movie Night!

 FiveSibes #Flashback ~ 2016 ~ Bandit, Wolfie, Harley & Chloe

We here, as many others in the northeastern United States are currently under an "Extreme Cold Watch"..brrrrrrrr...with cautions to not be outside as the temps will be down to -15℉ in some areas here. 🥶 This is by far the coldest winter on record so far for me! 

 
It made me think of my FiveSibes and while they were "snow dogs," I'd never let them outside in frigid temps, except to do their business. They loved to be out, but on super cold days, Chloe (who I swore could've been a tropical Husky as she loved the sun and warmth) would lead the pack out for an uber-quick pee, and then she'd trot right back in as fast as her repaired legs could carry her and she'd race into their favorite spotn the kitchen nook under the table and benches--and she'd grab the spot in the corner. Apparently, that was the coveted place preferred by her sister Bandit and our alpha Harley! Gibson's spot was under the window (which was always cracked for him), and Wolfie preferred his bed in the kitchen by the counter. 
 
When I was ready to settle in and watch some TV, they'd then all come join me in the living room, and basically take it over! This is a fun flashback I took the liberty of creating a meme with their thoughts! I'm pretty sure I was right on the money with this one! 
 
I hope it brings you some smiles, and if you're in the "frigid zone" like we are, may you and your pets all stay safe and warm.

#PrayersForHarley - Dewclaw Tumor

Dewclaws. Such an unnecessary evil for a dog. In August, I noticed Harley limping. At 11-and-a-half, she is a bit stiff-legged at times from arthritis, but this was a more pronounced limp and she was having an extra tough time sitting down. She seemed very uncomfortable. She was also becoming a bit snarley, especially when I was touching her paw, which is something that never typically bothers her. Upon further checking, I noticed an odd lump around her dewclaw on her right leg, thinking it was possibly a pulled dewclaw, maybe a splinter, thistle, or even a bee sting , she became extremely agitated when I touched it.    (Warning: some photos may be somewhat graphic, but I am sharing for educational purposes).   Oddity beneath the dew claw.   Off to the vet we went. The Rainbow Bridge Welcomes A New FurAngel - Buddy, the Christmas Husky - A Forever Symbol of Hope for Rescued Dogs

My beloved Gibson is there. As is my Chelsey, Sandy, kitty Smokie, bunny Sunny, my fox Ah, many horses, and so many others pets. We have many furfriends who have also crossed The Rainbow Bridge. All of these beloved animals are there...so healthy and happy, with all the dogs enjoying their zoomies and playing Fetch all day in a land that is eternally beautiful. Sounds perfect. Only catch is when our devoted companions are there, we can no longer physically be with them. So while they are in a place where the spirit soars, our hearts are broken as we are missing them here with us. "Freedom 46"

You most likely have heard the recent news about the "Freedom 46" - the 46 dogs (mainly Cocker Spaniels, plus a few other breeds) the Oldies But Goodies (OBG) Cocker Rescue helped to rescue from a property in Virginia. It just boggles the mind that people can treat animals in this manner...we hear story after story, and in this case, these poor dogs were residing in a "hot barn without anyone to give them proper exercise or keep their water dishes filled. Many were covered with their own feces and urine. OBG worked with Animal Control and with the support of the Virginia Federation of Humane Societies to remove these dogs from that property," states Teresa Butler, the president of the OBG. "The dogs rescued from this property are now safely boarding with veterinarians that work with OBG and will be evaluated by veterinarians over the course of the next week with the goal of moving them into foster homes as quickly as possible.
