Woo! FiveSibes Named #1 Husky Blog of 2025!

  
Woo! So thrilled to hear that in closing out 2025, this FiveSibes blog has been ranked #1 Husky Blog for 2025 by Feedspot!
 
While FiveSibes has topped their list consecutively this year, wrapping up the year as #1 is a thrill. I think my FiveSibes would be wooing in joy. 
 

As a career photojournalist, I began this blog back in February 2010 to begin journaling and sharing life with my five gorgeous, fun-loving, amazing Siberian Huskies (a/k/a FiveSibes): Harley our alpha queen, Gibson my fluffy big epileptic wooly boy who was in love with Harley; and Gibson's younger siblings little brother Wolfie, and his sisters Bandit and Chloe. Sharing life with these five amazing dogs was such an honor and so much fun. Yes, there were many trials and tribulations--especially when Gibson began having seizures and Chloe blew out both CCLs at once, followed by Wolfie blowing out his. Yes, we did have four CCL surgeries and yes, Chloe was carried in the surgeon's as both of her legs were "shredded" according to the vet, who said he never saw them so bad...and with help of a body sling, she miraculously walked out. And yes, we also did everything to help my Gibson with his 7-year journey with epilepsy. Yes, we paid for all their care on our own, and would do it again if they were still here. They were our family, and always will be. 
 
In between all the tribulations and the scary trials, there were so many fabulous memories and so much love between us. The joy of sharing life with them is beyond measuring. Their incredible love of family and zest for life was so inspirational...and still is.
 
I loved them so, and in their name, I continue on with this blog. I will be starting my 16th year in early 2026! I have "met" so many amazing pet bloggers and friends through here, and look forward to years more.

    So well deserved! Congrats, Dorothy! Your FiveSibes, especially Gibson, would be so proud of you. Here's to a year filled with great memories, belly laughs, more dog parents helped with your wonderful content, and an abundant of blessings where you need them most. #PrayersForHarley - Dewclaw Tumor

Dewclaws. Such an unnecessary evil for a dog. In August, I noticed Harley limping. At 11-and-a-half, she is a bit stiff-legged at times from arthritis, but this was a more pronounced limp and she was having an extra tough time sitting down. She seemed very uncomfortable. She was also becoming a bit snarley, especially when I was touching her paw, which is something that never typically bothers her. Upon further checking, I noticed an odd lump around her dewclaw on her right leg, thinking it was possibly a pulled dewclaw, maybe a splinter, thistle, or even a bee sting , she became extremely agitated when I touched it.    (Warning: some photos may be somewhat graphic, but I am sharing for educational purposes).   Oddity beneath the dew claw.   Off to the vet we went. The Rainbow Bridge Welcomes A New FurAngel - Buddy, the Christmas Husky - A Forever Symbol of Hope for Rescued Dogs

My beloved Gibson is there. As is my Chelsey, Sandy, kitty Smokie, bunny Sunny, my fox Ah, many horses, and so many others pets. We have many furfriends who have also crossed The Rainbow Bridge. All of these beloved animals are there...so healthy and happy, with all the dogs enjoying their zoomies and playing Fetch all day in a land that is eternally beautiful. Sounds perfect. Only catch is when our devoted companions are there, we can no longer physically be with them. So while they are in a place where the spirit soars, our hearts are broken as we are missing them here with us. Fit For Our #FiveSibes Alpha Queen: Celebrating Harley's 14½ Birthday

Born on March 10, 2005, our beautiful alpha queen, pupster surrogate momma, and my daughter's and our first Siberian Husky,  turns 14½ today! You may be wondering why are we celebrating her half birthday? Because, as heartbreaking as it is, we now know she will not be here in March to celebrate her 15th Birthday as I once had hoped. Heartfelt thanks to Ann at Zoolatry for this beautiful badge. Thank you all who are sharing it and joining paws for our girl.
