#FBF: Dog Memories Are Bubbles in Time
Our new place did not yet have a fence, nor a deck....but they adjusted so well! I did have to go back to having them on a leash as opposed to them being used to running free in our enclosed yard of the previous house. For exercise, I opted for a much longer horse lunge line, which for being "free" Huskies at our other property, they adjusted to quite well. They were seniors by this point, and had slowed down a bit (just a bit!) and were way more interested in all of the new sights and smells in our new neighborhood, so being leashed worked out great. Now we did go for leash walks where we previously lived, and they were all trained for leashes, but due to them having the run of our old yard is what worried me about them now always being on a leash until our new yard could be done. BUT...if I could go back in time I'd tell the then-me not to worry so much that all will work out fine just as long as we're all together.
Our new yard had not yet been planted, so it was mainly dirt, but for Huskies, that made it a giant fun "sandbox" to dig in! The Pupsters enjoyed all the walks and romps with our grandkids, while sniffing and marking their new territory.
Bubbles was a favorite past time for my grandchildren (who doesn't love bubbles?!) and the Pupsters enjoyed those as well! Basically, they were just happy to be wherever we were, and together we created a whole bunch of new memories. And as long as the dogs are loved and cared for and with the family they love and grew up with, *they will be happy.* My beloved dogs have always been a part of our family. All those memories with mine are now all precious visits for my heart, especially now that they have all earned their furangel wings. I will miss them every single day for always.
Today's quote is perfect...life is indeed but a bubble in the vast ocean of time. So enjoy all those bubbles and memories of your beloved pets, for time goes by so quickly, it should get a speeding ticket.

I'm so glad it worked out well in the new yard. Everyone loves bubbles and it looks like your sweet dogs were happy to just be chasing them down while the grandchildren blew them, a winning combo.
ReplyDeleteThose were truly the best bubble sweeties!
ReplyDeleteMoving can be such a huge adjustment for dogs. But sounds like yours did just fine!
