"I hope that parents and children will take away a love of animals from
this book. To realize that the shy and timid pets at shelters and rescues
just need some patience and love and TLC to become loving members of their
family."

& Owner/Photographer of Visions Photography
I'm so excited to announce the publication of Little Miss Suri's children's book (or for any age Husky lover)! As many of you know already, I'm a career writer, photojournalist, and editor. I've had the privilege of editing Carl D. Bromberg's new book all about his beautiful rescue puppy, Siberian Husky, Suri! Many of you already follow Little Miss Suri on Facebook and know that when Carl adopted Suri's mother—Jesse—she was scheduled to be spayed when SURPRISE!, they discovered she was carrying a puppy! Jesse was carrying just one puppy—and Carl welcomed surprise baby Suri to his Siberian Husky family that already included Suri's momma, her Daddy Titan, and Uncle Caleb!

When the Puppy Bowl X aired, my FiveSibes and I eagerly watched! There was a lot of whooping (me) and wooing (my pups) and a whole lot of fun and snacks and even tossing around a fuzzy football dog toy!

But I'm not giving too much away because you can read all about this miraculous and exciting puppy's life in Carl's new book,The Story of Little Miss Suri: From Surprise Puppy to Puppy Bowl Star now out in print through Amazon! What a great time to get this book before settling in to watch the Animal Planet's Puppy Bowl XX (exactly 10 years ago Suri was on Puppy Box X!) on February 11th at 2 PM ET! The book is a great book for families to read, with easy print and just 48-pages including illustrations by artist Barbara K. Slocum, and a photo album of Suri's adventure in New York City for filming of the Puppy Bowl X.

adopt and to not shop for pets for their family! There are SO many loving
pets in shelters and rescues just waiting for a chance at a loving forever

~Carl D. Bromberg, Author
A little about Suri's hu-dad and author Carl D. Bromberg. Carl is the owner of Visions Photography in Cedar Rapids, IA. He specializes in Pet Photography, Family Photography, and Senior Photography in Eastern Iowa since 1998.
What really sets Carl's photography work apart from others is that he prides himself on "capturing you or your pets personalities!" He also strives to "Capture emotions or tell a story! Your Story! You and your furbabies deserve something special!"
Carl also says he will "always" donate 10% of Visions Photography's profits to Animal Rescue!!!
And his rescue work doesn't stop there. He himself for years has been a multi-dog caregiver of rescued dogs he adopted, including, Suri and her mother Jesse!
In addition, Carl volunteers to help rescues by photographing their dogs who are looking for forever loving homes!
I really enjoyed working with Carl on this book and I chatted with him after the final draft was approved and published through Amazon's Kindle Publishing about it how it felt to have Suri's story published.
DOROTHY/FIVESIBESMOM (D/FSM): What does it mean to have your book published? I know it's geared for children, but honestly, it's a great easy read for parents, grandparents, and even teachers to read to children together.
CARL D. BROMBERG (CDB):"It means so much to
me to have this book done!," he exclaimed. "To be able to get her story out to the
public. Her parents were so afraid of everything, then to have this
miracle of a puppy born as a total surprise! A kind of lasting gift from
her mother Jesse for helping them become dogs again!"
D/FSM: What do you hope folks—children and adults—will learn about and take away from Suri's story?
CDB: "I hope that parents and children will take away a love of animals from
this book. To realize that the shy and timid pets at shelters and rescues
just need some patience and love and TLC to become loving members of their
family. To give those pets a chance at love and that when
they do, those pets will be so eternally grateful to finally have a chance to be
loved as a dear family member!"
D/FSM: What do you think is the most important message to get there about dogs who are in rescues and shelters, waiting for homes of their own?
CDB: "The most important thing is to
adopt and to not shop for pets for their family! There are SO many loving
pets in shelters and rescues just waiting for a chance at a loving forever
home!"

FiveSibes #Flashback Photo ~ Gibson & His Purple Pumpkin ~ 2014 W oo! Or, should I say Booooo! It's that time of the year when pumpkin hunting and carving is fun thing to do! And, while we are all busy carving and displaying our artworks on the gourds, did you remember to make a purple pumpkin? "Woo! What's in my purple pumpkin? Treats?!" ~Gibson/FiveSibes A Purple pumpkin? What?! If you've been a FiveSibes follower, you know how important the color of purple is to us, and why Purple Pumpkins are a staple here.If you are new to us here at FiveSibes, I initially joined in the Purple Pumpkin Project because we made our pumpkin purple for my Epi-dog Gibson. Dewclaws. Such an unnecessary evil for a dog. In August, I noticed Harley limping. At 11-and-a-half, she is a bit stiff-legged at times from arthritis, but this was a more pronounced limp and she was having an extra tough time sitting down. She seemed very uncomfortable. She was also becoming a bit snarley, especially when I was touching her paw, which is something that never typically bothers her. Upon further checking, I noticed an odd lump around her dewclaw on her right leg, thinking it was possibly a pulled dewclaw, maybe a splinter, thistle, or even a bee sting , she became extremely agitated when I touched it. (Warning: some photos may be somewhat graphic, but I am sharing for educational purposes). Oddity beneath the dew claw. Off to the vet we went. At the vet, Harley is protective of her paw by hiding it . Harley's paw was shaved and it uncovered a very large inflamed area surrounding the dewclaw and beyond, as you can see in the below photo
Original photo by and courtesy of Lisa Byrd; modified by FiveSibes The Rainbow Bridge must be some (p)awesome place to be for it has so many amazing, beautiful angel animals there. My beloved Gibson is there. As is my Chelsey, Sandy, kitty Smokie, bunny Sunny, my fox Ah, many horses, and so many others pets. We have many furfriends who have also crossed The Rainbow Bridge. All of these beloved animals are there...so healthy and happy, with all the dogs enjoying their zoomies and playing Fetch all day in a land that is eternally beautiful. Sounds perfect. Only catch is when our devoted companions are there, we can no longer physically be with them. So while they are in a place where the spirit soars, our hearts are broken as we are missing them here with us. It is a hurt we all as pet parents now way too well. And today, as unbelievable as it seems as I write this, we have to bid a final farewell to another dear furpal, Buddy, the Christmas Husky , who has now earned his w
Born on March 10, 2005, our beautiful alpha queen, pupster surrogate momma, and my daughter's and our first Siberian Husky, turns 14½ today! You may be wondering why are we celebrating her half birthday? Because, as heartbreaking as it is, we now know she will not be here in March to celebrate her 15th Birthday as I once had hoped. Heartfelt thanks to Ann at Zoolatry for this beautiful badge. Thank you all who are sharing it and joining paws for our girl. As amazing and strong as our queen has been, and how proud I have been of how she still could outrun Pupsters Wolf and Bandit, still splash in her pool like a puppy, tear up a dog bed like there's no tomorrow, and chase her tail until the sun sets, our beloved Husky leader has also been dealing with health issues that we have been treating, but are now slowing her down and, heartbreakingly we are preparing ourselves for her journey, that we as pet parents all dread, to the Rainbow Bridge. “Dogs' lives a
