#FlashbackFriday: Christmas in July Memories

Image
Turn on the volume for the video below!   Flashback Photo ~ Christmas 2014 ~ Gibson, Harley & Wolfie Can you spot Harley?! Today, we are celebrating Christmas in July with a sweet memory from eight years ago...the tree was trimmed, presents were wrapped, and all that was left was waiting for Santa! I remember after putting the finishing touches on gifts and reading through Christmas cards (most of them for my FiveSibes!), I sat down and just let the wondrous feelings of the season wash over me. I always loved when my Huskies were peacefully sleeping after a day of play. They were safe, well fed, exceptionally loved, and sleeping ever so peacefully under the tree. In this photo, Gibson and his true love Harley snuggled together on his bed (can you see Harley?!) and Wolfie nearby. They were all sleeping so soundly, it warmed my heart. Chloe and Bandit were downstairs snoozing under that tree with my daughter as she watched holiday movies. Listening to this video clip and w...

Remembrance Stone: Forever in My Heart

Image
(Sigh). Love and Time are both funny things. Not in the LOL or ha-ha kind of way, but in the odd, surreal way that time plays in our lives, especially with pets. We all know before we welcome home that puppy, kitten, dog, cat, horse, rabbit, bird, or whatever pet fills your heart with love, that there is a ticking clock playing in the background. While I have had many of the above-mentioned pets in my life, I'm going to talk about dogs because their lifespans are no where near as long as we humans need them to be. So when we welcome a dog into our home, our family, and our lives, it is a commitment for the next decade--or if we are truly lucky--the next 15, 16, or even 18 years. Having large dogs (my Siberian Huskies and my adopted mixed breeds of German Shepherd and Akita, and Husky, Chow, and Shepherd, I know going in the time is on the shorter end of things. When I first embarked upon life with five Siberian Huskies--two a year apart in age, then two years later we added three p...

Happy 100th Birthday to Hu-Nanny in Heaven

Image
Today is a very special #FlashbackFriday as it would be my mother's, the FiveSibes Hu-Nanny's, 100th Birthday! It is her sixth birthday spent in Heaven, and she is missed so much more than mere words could say. Today's trip down Memory Lane is in honor of this amazing pet-loving Mom, Nanny, and Dog Momma, who was with me when we welcomed Gibson to the family, and she always enjoyed her visits with our FiveSibes. I'd like to think that our Gibson (who passed just one month after she did), Harley, Chloe, and Bandit, along with her beloved dogs, are all celebrating with her and giving her some wonderful kisses.   Love Lives On Those we love remain with us for love itself lives on, and cherished memories never fade because a loved one's gone. Those we love can never be more than a thought apart, far as long as there is memory, they'll live on in the heart. ~Anonymous      ...

Newsy Tuesday's FiveSibes Book Nook Review: No Ghoulish Green Monsters Here by Dawn Secord

Image
Woo! Welcome to our Newsy Tuesday Book Nook Review!  It's been awhile since we've reviewed a book, and I’m pretty excited to share this review with you! First, a little back story: I was sent an advanced copy of the book to review with pupsters Wolf and Bandit back in the fall of last year. I had such a fun time reading it to them and doing a photoshoot with the book galley. Sadly, and unexpectedly, our dear girl Bandit journeyed to north of the Rainbow Bridge shortly after, and I needed to take some time off from blogging to be with Wolf and help him heal from the grief of losing of his sister and finding himself the lone dog left in our original FiveSibes pack family. So, this will always be an extra special review since it was the last with our girl Bandit.     "Woo! Wolfie, we get to read this cool book!" Now…who doesn’t like a little bling in their life? Well, we here at FiveSibes have one that you will absolutely love—“Bling” the real-life Irish Setter dog! And ...
