Image
Our Blog Book Tour Badge So excited to announce the launch of my Blog Book Tour for my recent book, Buddy, the Christmas Husky~A True Holiday Miracle! Back in November, I made the announcement that it was coming soon, and a few days before Christmas it was published! Now don't let the title fool you...while his name is the Christmas Husky, this is a poignant, heartwarming true tale for all seasons.   "An injured, starving, and homeless Siberian Husky is rescued by a Good Samaritan one snowy Christmas Day. Through a network of caring people across thousands of miles, the Husky, who becomes known as “Buddy, the Christmas Husky,” discovers that not all humans are mean and uncaring. His long journey brings him to find compassion, friendship, and a loving mom to call his own."   Today, Confessions of a Rescue Mom Blog is our very first stop on the Book Tour! We are so thrilled to have her feature us in her "Fundraiser Friday" post. Please be sure ...

Husky Rehab Update and Down With Irresponsible Backyard Breeders

Image
Wolf home from his hospital stay. It's been a little while since we've posted here and we really miss our Bloggerville family and friends and hope to catch up with everyone's blogs soon. As many of you know, we've been rehabbing Gibson from his fall on Christmas Eve...he is now in a brace and harness sling to aid in supporting him so he can walk. He has a long road ahead of him, but he is now helping to pull himself up, and on his Birthday he even gave me the greatest gift when he managed to wobbily stand up on all fours on his own! I'm taking this as a positive sign that going Conservative Care Management/Treatment once again with this leg is the way to go. It will be a long, slow road as he only just blew out his CCL on the right leg last December (and it is quite common to blow both within a year or so of each other and he tore his left one almost a year to the month this December). He also suffers from weak hind end issues caused by his Epi-meds, and he is a...

♥ Happy 8th Birthday, Gibson! ♥ A Giveaway and Video to Celebrate!

Image
Today is beautiful Gibson's birthday! It's so hard to believe it was eight years ago in April when Gib joined our family. He was just a happy, silly, big ball of fluff with a squinty parti-eye that made him look like he was winking. He couldn't really run like a regular Husky, he always did a combination of a horse's lope mixed in with a bunny's back end hop ~ and that's how he still runs today! That fluffy wooly puppy grew into a beautiful, amazing, loving, soulful dog...and a best friend to me. He is "an old soul" as our canine behaviorist once pointed out upon meeting him and I agree. When I talk to Gib and look into his beautiful blue eyes, they are knowing. We have a very special unbreakable bond.    Love this split-pic my daughter put together for us! We've been through a lot over the years with his diagnosis of Canine Epilepsy shortly after he turned three, to bouts of hind end weakness due to his Epi-meds, and a very severe cas...

We are thankful for our family, friends, and furfriends...and look forward to another year of friendship, fun, and camaraderie with you all! Be safe. Be healthy. Be happy.  Wolf and Bandit watching the ball drop! Bye-bye 2013...Hewooo 2014!

An Unexpected Christmas Eve

Image
Please join us in a #pawcircle of healing and prayer for my boy Gibson. We had a very scary Christmas Eve...a sudden snow squall happened that at first was beautiful, but it turned icy very quickly, like in seconds. While outside with the furbabies, my boy Gibson slipped in the icy snow and went down crying. He could not walk and we did get him back inside by semi-carrying him (he is 95 pounds of wooly Husky!). He needs assistance with a sling to go "out" as he can not walk on his own. It appears to me that he may have torn his other CCL (he tore his left one last year and we were advised that he could blow out his other in a year or so, and it's been a little over a year). As most of you know, he is a canine epileptic, and has had a weak hind end for years as a result of meds, which adds to my concern. It is unclear at this point whether it is indeed a cruciate issue, even though does appear to be, and if he will ultimately need a double surgery on his ba...

Merry Christmas! Time for a Sleigh Ride!

Image
From our FiveSibes Family to yours, "We wish you a Merry Christmas! We Wish you a Merry Christmas! We wish you  a Merry Christmas! And a Happy New Year!" A special thanks to my FiveSibes™ illustrator, the very talented Michelle Littler, for the above wonderful holiday illustration! (A little secret...we are working on a FiveSibes™ Tale Christmas book for 2014! Woo!) You can check out some of Michelle's other fabulous work on her littletoad store on Etsy HERE . And keeping with the theme of a sleigh ride...we'd like to leave you with our very special Christmas Sleigh Ride video from last year, where furpals from across the globe hopped on Santa's sleigh with us...we're sure you'll recognize more than a few beautiful furry faces, a few who are now angels and watching over us from above. So grab yourself some hot cocoa, some treats for the furkids, snuggle up together on the sofa, turn up the volume, and enjoy! I can hear those sleigh bells jing-...

It's Christmas Eve! Santa Came!

Image
This is a flashback to last year, but we just love it when Santa Paws came and visited our FiveSibes and how excited they were to see him (ahem - her, Kat, one of the wonderful receptionists at our vet's office!) that we just had to share again! We hope all our furpals and their families are having a wonderful Christmas Eve and that Santa Paws is very good to all! And don't forget to take a few minutes to play "Santa" by visiting your local shelter or rescue sometime during the holiday season to bring some cheer (and treats and toys) to homeless dogs who could use some cheering up this holiday season until they have a family of their own! Ho! Ho! Ho!
