Today is Pupster Chloe's 7th Rainbow Bridge Anniversary

 

 
Our beautiful #pupster and chatty chowhound, “Chloe,” the absolute sweetheart of our #FiveSibes who never met a treat or food she didn’t like, made her sudden journey to the #RainbowBridge 7 years ago today due to sudden liver failure. 💔 I think Mother Nature knew as it rained all day here, like tears from Heaven.

Chloe was my daughter’s baby, and while I prefer to focus today on her beauty, charm, loyalty, sweetness, great enthusiasm to talk and eat…and oh, how she rallied back after two emergency CCL surgeries after blowing them out at the same time. What an amazing patient she was after that scary surgery...when we carried her in, but with the aid of a sling harness, she walked out two days later on rebuilt hind legs. She was truly an ideal patient, and healed well under my daughter’s care. 
 
I still felt the need to recognize today, the day she had suddenly earned her wings after she stopped doing what she loved to do--eat. Thinking she just had a tummy upset as she had just had her annual check-up four months earlier and all was fine then, we were shocked to discover that after our vet ran some tests, her liver count was so high, and she was going into liver failure. How? I'm still, all these years later, seven to be exact, taken aback by such a sudden and fatal change. We had to let her go peacefully in my daughter's arms that day on our deck, her favorite spot. The sun was out and our other Huskies were there. 
 
And then she was gone.
 
Chloe was truly a sweet, sweet girl and always up for a photo session! I so love this pic I took of her with the FiveSibes sign sent by a dear friend. So love that sweet face.

I have to admit to you though, I struggled all day with this thought...did I want to post her Rainbow Bridge anniversary? Di I want to continue posting on each of my FiveSibes Rainbow Bridge date? Or, just share their birthday/gotcha days and remember them and all the joy they had brought to our lives? As you can see, I opted to share her date. Will I continue to share their Rainbow Bridge anniversary dates in the future? I don't honestly know...but what I do know is that I will continue to share all the fond memories over the years because those bring me joy. But, I may just phase out the Rainbow Bridge anniversaries because, frankly, they're too painful.

#PrayersForHarley - Dewclaw Tumor

Dewclaws. Such an unnecessary evil for a dog. In August, I noticed Harley limping. At 11-and-a-half, she is a bit stiff-legged at times from arthritis, but this was a more pronounced limp and she was having an extra tough time sitting down. She seemed very uncomfortable. She was also becoming a bit snarley, especially when I was touching her paw, which is something that never typically bothers her. Upon further checking, I noticed an odd lump around her dewclaw on her right leg, thinking it was possibly a pulled dewclaw, maybe a splinter, thistle, or even a bee sting , she became extremely agitated when I touched it.    (Warning: some photos may be somewhat graphic, but I am sharing for educational purposes).   Oddity beneath the dew claw.   Off to the vet we went. The Rainbow Bridge Welcomes A New FurAngel - Buddy, the Christmas Husky - A Forever Symbol of Hope for Rescued Dogs

My beloved Gibson is there. As is my Chelsey, Sandy, kitty Smokie, bunny Sunny, my fox Ah, many horses, and so many others pets. We have many furfriends who have also crossed The Rainbow Bridge. All of these beloved animals are there...so healthy and happy, with all the dogs enjoying their zoomies and playing Fetch all day in a land that is eternally beautiful. Sounds perfect. Only catch is when our devoted companions are there, we can no longer physically be with them. So while they are in a place where the spirit soars, our hearts are broken as we are missing them here with us. "Freedom 46"

You most likely have heard the recent news about the "Freedom 46" - the 46 dogs (mainly Cocker Spaniels, plus a few other breeds) the Oldies But Goodies (OBG) Cocker Rescue helped to rescue from a property in Virginia. It just boggles the mind that people can treat animals in this manner...we hear story after story, and in this case, these poor dogs were residing in a "hot barn without anyone to give them proper exercise or keep their water dishes filled. Many were covered with their own feces and urine. OBG worked with Animal Control and with the support of the Virginia Federation of Humane Societies to remove these dogs from that property," states Teresa Butler, the president of the OBG. "The dogs rescued from this property are now safely boarding with veterinarians that work with OBG and will be evaluated by veterinarians over the course of the next week with the goal of moving them into foster homes as quickly as possible.
