Play Elf From Home to "Salome" of Adopt A Husky Minnesota in Our 4th Annual Sponsor-A-Rescue-Husky for the Howlidays

Woo! Welcome to our #FiveSibes 4TH Annual Sponsor-A-Husky for the Howlidays Drive! This year we once again had five Rescues answer our call-out and will be participating, so stay tuned! Today's post is highlighting ADOPT A HUSKY MINNESOTA featuring  "SALOME," an almost 8.5 year old, 50-pound, beautiful blue-eyed female Siberian Husky!

This post is one part of this year's FIVE-PART (meaning five different rescues across the country) SPONSOR-A-HUSKY FOR THE HOWLIDAYS post. While at the end I'll have one main post with links to all four Rescues, I am also highlighting each of the four Rescues into individual posts so these beautiful homeless Huskies get the attention they deserve, and hopefully several kind "elves" will help fill their Howliday Wish Lists and bring some joy to these Huskies while they wait for their forever families. 🎄You can also ADOPT one of them, making the rest of their lives full of love! A link is always included in each rescue dog's bio to help you navigate to their adoption guidelines and applications.🎄

Quick ReCap: ‘Tis the season to help homeless Siberian Huskies in need! As we've all seen, there is a serious problem of Huskies and northern breed dogs being "surrendered," or worse, abandoned, some ill and injured, and their only hope is that rescue folks will be able to save them. Due to the tremendous number of them being abandoned by what they thought were their forever families, rescues are filled beyond capacity, some have closed intakes, while others are hoping more fosters step forward to help give them temporary homes until a forever one can be found. Without them, these beautiful dogs have zero chance. They are a magnanimous breed that need exercise, socialization, interaction, and love. A shelter is no place for any dog, especially this breed. And there are just too many now who are waiting for their forever homes, whether it is in the care of a loving foster family or waiting at a brick-and-mortar rescue for someone to come and welcome them into their family. These dogs depend on rescues, and we depend on rescues to help them--but the rescues need help, or else they can't continue to save the Huskies.

Why do I do this? For me, sharing my life with my beloved FiveSibes—Harley, Gibson, Wolfgang, Chloe, and Bandit—I learned so much and received so much love back from them. They will always be in my heart. And in their names, I’d like to once again help other Siberian Huskies in need get a little taste of what a wonderful Christmas filled with love from a forever family can be like.

Now let's meet "Salome"
and see what's on her Wish List!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Salome is a beauty! However, her story "Isn't for the weak of heart," informs her Foster Mom. "Salome came from a puppy mill, where she spent her life as one of many breeder moms. Her story deserves to be heard and shared. She was surrendered to Adopt A Husky MN after the facility—housing more than 500 dogs—requested rescue help. What many people don’t realize is that there are an estimated 10,000 puppy mills across the United States, and 25 of them are right here in Minnesota. In these places, once female dogs are considered 'done' breeding, most are never given a second chance. More than 60% are killed without a thought, without a tear shed."
Salome's Foster Mom continues, "When the opportunity came to save three breeder moms from this facility, I didn’t hesitate. I saw photos of Salome—terrified, unsure, so small in spirit—but in her eyes, there was still pure love and gentle kindness. I knew immediately that I needed to help her. Salome entered AAHMN’s care along with one other breeder mom. With the support of a generous rehabilitation partner, she is finally getting her second chance at life. Before rescue, Salome had never walked on a leash. She had never slept in a soft, warm bed. She had never played with toys or felt unconditional love and safety. But now she has all of that. While living in my home with my husband, Salome has slowly opened her heart. Today she is loving, sweet, playful, and eager to be part of a family. She still has a journey ahead of her, but she wants to be loved. She wants to learn. She adores her orthopedic bed, enjoys exploring toys, and thrives in a welcoming home. After finally being seen by a licensed veterinarian, we learned that Salome has a dislocated patella—likely something she endured for years in the puppy mill without treatment. She simply learned to live with the pain. Thanks to generous donations from community members, local pet stores, and every kindhearted supporter, Salome will now receive the surgery she desperately needs so she can live a long, happy, pain-free life."
Foster Mom adds, "Stories like Salome’s are why I am so proud to be part of Adopt A Husky MN. We aren’t just a nonprofit—we are a family. We care deeply for every animal that enters our organization, and we wish we had more fosters across the Twin Cities so we could save even more dogs from places like the one Salome came from."
