It's Our #FBF Anniversary! Celebrating With Birthday Cake Memories & A Special Request!

Woo! While updating my #FBF page on our Menu list (so you can easily look back over #FBF blog hops over the years)...I discovered that on the 21st of September 2012, I began sharing flashback photos of my FiveSibes...and our weekly FiveSibes #FlashbackFriday Blog Hop was born here in Blogville!  Over the years, there may have been a few skipped weeks due to, well, life, and several hiatus after grieving a loss, and for a short period of time, we also welcomed in co-hosts, but we've been back steadily for several years now and have expanded it include not only blog links, but other social media links for those who don't blog. I want to give a big heartfelt bark, woof, and howl out to all of you who have joined us in sharing wonderful pics of your beloved pets and joining us in the Blog Hop, and commenting, over the years! I trulyappreciate you! 

Today's Flashbacks are super special because it's when my beloved FiveSibes were here to share my birthdays with me! Oh, how they loved cake and parties! I've had a couple of special cakes over the years, too, that my husband and daughter had designed! So, today is fitting for me to reshare them!

The Gibson cake was gorgeous, and little did I know at the time, it would be the last birthday he'd be here to share with me as he earned his furangel wings three months later. And, the FiveSibes Huskies cake was just adorable! (Truth Be Told: I sprayed the fondant Huskies with shellac and still have them in my china cabinet! My family never lets me live down the fact that I wouldn't let them eat the fondant Huskies because I wanted to save them! BOL!)

Also, for my birthday, I'm asking for donations to The Wally Fund~Canine Epilepsy (TWF) in memory of my Epi-dog, Gibson. The Wally Foundation, which I've been a volunteer case manager with for many years, is a terrific nonprofit organization that offers possible financial assistance to caregivers of dogs with epilepsy who are having a difficult time paying for the much-needed anti-seizure medications (you need to apply, supply veterinarian records, and show financial need). #PrayersForHarley - Dewclaw Tumor

Dewclaws. Such an unnecessary evil for a dog. In August, I noticed Harley limping. At 11-and-a-half, she is a bit stiff-legged at times from arthritis, but this was a more pronounced limp and she was having an extra tough time sitting down. She seemed very uncomfortable. She was also becoming a bit snarley, especially when I was touching her paw, which is something that never typically bothers her. Upon further checking, I noticed an odd lump around her dewclaw on her right leg, thinking it was possibly a pulled dewclaw, maybe a splinter, thistle, or even a bee sting , she became extremely agitated when I touched it.    (Warning: some photos may be somewhat graphic, but I am sharing for educational purposes).   Oddity beneath the dew claw.   Off to the vet we went. The Rainbow Bridge Welcomes A New FurAngel - Buddy, the Christmas Husky - A Forever Symbol of Hope for Rescued Dogs

My beloved Gibson is there. As is my Chelsey, Sandy, kitty Smokie, bunny Sunny, my fox Ah, many horses, and so many others pets. We have many furfriends who have also crossed The Rainbow Bridge. All of these beloved animals are there...so healthy and happy, with all the dogs enjoying their zoomies and playing Fetch all day in a land that is eternally beautiful. Sounds perfect. Only catch is when our devoted companions are there, we can no longer physically be with them. So while they are in a place where the spirit soars, our hearts are broken as we are missing them here with us. Fit For Our #FiveSibes Alpha Queen: Celebrating Harley's 14½ Birthday

Born on March 10, 2005, our beautiful alpha queen, pupster surrogate momma, and my daughter's and our first Siberian Husky,  turns 14½ today! You may be wondering why are we celebrating her half birthday? Because, as heartbreaking as it is, we now know she will not be here in March to celebrate her 15th Birthday as I once had hoped. Heartfelt thanks to Ann at Zoolatry for this beautiful badge. Thank you all who are sharing it and joining paws for our girl. As amazing and strong as our queen has been, and how proud I have been of how she still could outrun Pupsters Wolf and Bandit, still splash in her pool like a puppy, tear up a dog bed like there's no tomorrow, and chase her tail until the sun sets, our beloved Husky leader has also been dealing with health issues that we have been treating, but are now slowing her down and, heartbreakingly we are preparing ourselves for her journey, that we as pet parents all dread, to the Rainbow Bridge.  “Dogs' lives a...
