Happy International Cat Day Featuring Our Cats & Cat-Loving Husky!
Since it is International Cat Day, I thought it would be a great time to share this pic of my beloved boy, Gibson, keeping an eye on our adopted tuxedo feral boy, "Binx," and behind him is our dear sweet "Smokie" who had been abandoned by her family and found her way to our house and straight into our hearts. Then Smokie found Binx, who was just a wild neighborhood kitten, and brought him home to our house, and straight into our hearts! I could just hear Smokie telling Binx, "No worries. I know where you can live. Come home with me!"
They were two of the most beautiful cats I've ever seen. Smokie was a gorgeous long-fur gray cat who I dubbed an honorary Husky cat due to her fur coat! Binx was a handsome tuxedo kitty! While he was feral, my daughter worked with him to build up his trust, and although he never liked being picked up, he eventually came around to love being petted and he enjoyed jumping up on our car windshield meowing his "hello" when we came home!
Gibson was the only one of my FiveSibes who seemed to enjoy the cats and would just sit and watch them, or if we were outside, he'd laid down near them. The other four, well, in true Husky form, would not be sitting so nicely by the door like Gib!

ReplyDeleteAww, what a cute pic of your kitty walking up the windshield. So clever and a lovely memory. n
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightful flashback of your kitties! I'm so glad they found a good outdoor home with you.
ReplyDeleteHello!
ReplyDeleteWOW, they really were such beauties!!!
ReplyDeleteBinx and Smokie were absolutely beautiful. Of course, they'd know your house was the safe space to land. I'm not at all surprise that your gentle giant, Gibson, was fond of the kitties. He was a gentle soul. Binx reminds me of my last barn kitty, Spudsy. He was a tuxedo as well and he and my last horse, Macho loved each other. Macho would lean down and sniff Spudsy each morning. I was always afraid that he was going to inhale Spudsy. I think Macho was checking to see if Spudsy was okay. Then Spudsy would wrap himself around Macho's legs, which also scared me that he'd accidentally get stepped on. But they always seemed to know what the other was doing. It truly was the sweetest thing to watch. Spudsy found his way here when someone dumped him in the neighborhood. I don't get that mentality. But I'm glad he found me and Macho. Now, whenever I take Henry to Petsmart or Petco, he has to go see the kitties. His little stubby tail wags as he looks at them and they rub up against the window at him. Henry would love a kitty. Heck, he'd love any playmate. Hopefully soon when live settles down a bit. Great story, Dorothy! I'm sharing with all my readers.
ReplyDeleteWe love your cat story! While we used to have cats in the house years ago---now we just have our feral. Interesting that you took care of a feral too---they have to be very brave kitties to hang with huskies!
