Helpful Tips for Giving Epi-Dogs (or Any Dog) Medications

I was thrilled that on Purple Day this year I debuted this new joint-project I did with Tracy Smith of the supportive GIBBS-erish...Making Sense of Canine Epilepsy Facebook group. I've paired up with Tracy before when she hosted her Whine & Wag video podcast on "Talking About Canine Epilepsy" with veterinarian neurology experts. That was a such a great project, that we teamed up again for this one!

Gibson with his anti-epileptic medications (AEMs), also referred to as
AEDs (anti-epileptic drugs) and/or anti-convulsants.

Both having Epi-dogs - Tracy's "Gibbs" and my "Gibson" - we know how often times it can be a challenge to a) get dogs to take their much-needed medications, and 2) ensure they actually swallowed their medications (as many are pretty tricky! I've found my Gibson's capsule stuck in his thick wooly fur a few times)!

Missed doses can be very unnerving for Epi-dogs as it is so important to keep those anti-seizure medications given at specific times.

So if your Epi-dog, or non-Epi, doesn't want to take their oral meds, or are tricksters and managed to spit them out when you thought they went down the hatch...check out our informative and instructive slideshow with some helpful tips...
