#FlashbackFriday: Paws4Change -Vote Gibson!
H ello, November! Can you believe how fast this year is flying by?Thanksgiving is right around the corner, then Christmas! Wow! But this month is #NEAM - November Epilepsy Awareness Month, and here at FiveSibes we advocate for Epi-dogs, dogs with epilepsy, and how they can live full happy lives, the same as any other dog!
So this month, you'll be seeing posts all about Canine Epilepsy, links to studies and important veterinarian information, as well as our 3rd Annual #LiveGibStrong Epi-Star stories where I featured a beautiful Epi-dog who is living/has lived a wonderful life and did not let having seizure stop them!
Since today is #FlashbackFriday and November 1st...it's fitting that my flashback should be of my beloved boy, Gibson, the inspiration behind my #LiveGibStrong and #Paws4Purple initiatives. And, since it's also Election Day here in the US in a couple days, how perfect that I share the pics and video from my "#Paws4Change:Vote for Gibson of the FiveSibes Pack! A Dog For All Seasons!" Gibson had Epilepsy, but it sure never stopped him from loving life (and running for office!)
This post was unbelievably a flashback from 10 years ago! You can visit it HERE. However, his campaign promises still hold true for today.
With all the craziness and division amongst American people these days when it comes to politics, I think we can all join in to say Gibson would have made the perfect people's choice candidate! It was my attempt at having some lighthearted fun with Gibson and my FiveSibes...and I think we can all use that because there's nothing like a beautiful, loving dog to bring everyone together!
"Woo. I'm Gibson of the FiveSibes, and I approve this message!"
Creating this dog-friendly Campaign sure was such a fun afternoon with my beloved FiveSibes! I was lucky that there happened to be a candidate with the fabulous name Gibson that year, and getting a sign was an easy task. I do wish I had a button though! The highlight of this fun was when my "Vote Gibson" blog post was nominated by the Dog Writer's Association of America for "Excellence" in Humor!
Humor certainly is something we all could use a little more of these days!
Be sure to check back this month for special Canine Epilepsy awareness posts (and if you follow us on our FiveSibes: Siberian Husky K9 News & Reviews Facebook page, I'll share when new posts are up)! Today, for #NEAM kick-off...a reminder for families and caregivers of Epi-Dogs who may be concerned about medication schedule with the arrive of Fall Back Time (click on image to go to article):

Great Flashbacks.
ReplyDeleteI know its humor--but would it really be that bad if we had a political candidate who was honest about their feelings, cared about the pet crisis, and generally wants to be good? Even if they made mistakes, they were honest ones? You know..I could vote for that.
ReplyDeleteI love this! I would totally vote for a dog if that meant a fair crack at handling puppy mills and such. Also, didn't know you had a youtube channel! I'll check it out!
ReplyDeleteSuch a terrific flashback! We would have voted for Gibson any old time!
ReplyDeleteLove that pic of the FiveSibes! I don't know if I've seen it before, but I love it. And a dog for President...I'm all for it!
