CALLOUT For #EpiDogs ~ We Want to Highlight Your Dog as an #EpiStar!

November is not too far away, and it is (K9) Epilepsy Awareness Month (NEAM). Here at #FiveSibes, as an official Purple Day® for (K9) Epilepsy Ambassador, I not only share important vetted information on Canine Epilepsy, but I also highlight several Epi-Dogs and share their stories. If you've found yourself and your dog on the journey of living with Canine Epilepsy, you know besides it being scary, your dog is amazing and it sometimes helps others to read about your journey and I love to highlight these amazing warriors!

You can visit our special page HERE to see some of the amazing Epi-Stars whose stories I've shared!

How to Submit Your Epi-Dog?

It's simple! If you have a dog that has been diagnosed with Canine Epilepsy, (it can be a past or current dog) I'd love to talk with you and share your dog's journey. Simply Email me at: FiveSibesLiveGibStrong(at)gmail(dot)com (you know to replace the (at) and (dot) with the @ and . )
  • Be sure to put "Epi-Star 2024" in the Subject Line.
  • In the body of your Email, please include your dog's name, breed/mix, and when s/he was diagnosed with Epilepsy.
  • Then tell me a little about your dog and how having seizures has/has not affected them.
  • What type (if any) of meds/supplements/therapies they are on.
  •  How is/was your dog's journey/life with Canine Epilepsy.
  • Tell me what your dog loves to do and enjoy.
  • If your dog is a Working/Service Dog, tell me about how Epilepsy does not affect his/her work.
  • Let me know how you, the Caregiver, is doing.
  •  ***Include a few photos of your Epi-dog!***
NOTE: Your submission also serves as your permission granting Dorothy/FiveSibes to feature your dog's story, photos, names/locales on our FiveSibes blog and to share the story via social media.

I will always sent you a confirmation of receipt Email! I may also ask you a few other questions for the story about your precious Epi-dog!

If there is a lot of submissions, some will be be selected for November, and the others will be highlighted in March. Selections will be based on date received.

Where Did This Feature Idea Come From?

It all started with my dream dog project—a book inspired by my own heart dog, a beautiful Epi-dog, Gibson, a wooly Siberian Husky who was diagnosed with idiopathic Epilepsy shortly after his third birthday. It's a large, beautiful multi-award-winning 264-page coffee table book, EPIc Dog Tales: Heartfelt Stories About Amazing Dogs Living & Loving Life With Canine Epilepsy that features the heartfelt stories about other amazing Epi-dogs from across globe.

(My book is currently only available here in my ArcticHouse Books & Gifts Shoppe page. It is no longer available on Amazon at this time).

"These stories highlight dogs from across the world who do not let Canine Epilepsy define them...they live life to the fullest! I hope you enjoy reading these heartwarming stories, and know if your dog is diagnosed with Epilepsy, or if you are thinking about adopting a dog who is on anti-seizure medications, he or she can still live a full happy dog life doing all the same things a non Epi-dog can do...from skijoring to hiking, dock diving to showing, mushing and urban mushing, and just chilling on the couch with family! Epi-dogs Rock!"

  1. Oh...I can't wait to read all about the many EpiStars. I know there are more than we'd like to admit. Each are brave warriors. You are a terrific ambassador for Epi-Dogs and Epi-Dog care. I'm always amazed and inspired how you've carried on with Gibson's legacy. He's very proud of his mom. I'm sharing this will all my dog parents and will anxiously await the article.
