So although we are no longer hosting a blog hop, we here at FiveSibes will continue to periodically post Siberian Huskies and northern breed dogs who are in need of loving homes while also highlighting the rescue they are at. It is FiveSibes hope that you will SHARE these posts to give attention to the rescue and help find homes for these precious dogs.

A Little About Rocky Road Husky Rescue...

Rocky Road Husky Rescue is a new breed-specific rescue founded in 2022 for the Coastal Bend area of Texas. Rocky Road Husky Rescue's Mission is: "is to save as many huskies and husky mixes from being euthanized in the Texas Coastal Bend and to give them a second chance at life."

While Rocky Road Husky Rescue is NEW in the rescue world...its owner/founder, Joshua, is quite familiar and experienced with
Siberian Huskies and Husky mixes, as well as rescue work.

"The House That Rocky Built."

The story behind Rocky Road Husky Rescue is a special one!

Who is Rocky?

The rescue is devoted to a dog the founder, Joshua, came upon one day on his way home from work. According to their story, "From a distance, and being in the country, he said 'Man, what an ugly coyote.' As he got closer, the 'coyote' looks back but continues to walk forward. Joshua realized it was actually a dog and says, “Oh, it’s a dog. Probably belongs to one of the ranchers in the area.” As he passes the dog, he realizes it’s a husky and says, “Whoa! It’s a husky!” Then the realization struck that the dog was dumped! "On his way home, he stopped by a vet that was able to scan him for a microchip. Sadly, he was not chipped. Information was left at the vets and they even took a picture of him for their wall." Joshua named him "Rocky."

"Over the next few weeks, Joshua decided he needed to get Rocky checked out and start working on getting his health back up. After a brief examination, he learned Rocky was underweight, had fleas, ticks, hookworms, water in the lungs, and the worst of all, he was heartworm positive. Joshua immediately received medications and updated Rocky’s immunizations." Over time, no one came forward for Rocky, and he became part of Joshua's family. Needing money to help treat Rocky, people came together and started a GoFundMe, and Rocky received treatment! "Once this happened, Joshua wanted to give back more to this amazing breed and began researching Husky Rescues in Texas. After much deliberation, he decided to apply to foster for Texas Sled Dog Rescue (TSDR) and was approved! He was excited to work with them and be able to help other dogs in need!

Joshua graduated October 2021 from Southern New Hampshire University with his Bachelor’s in Business and a focus on Nonprofit Management. With time, patience, and support from the community, he was able to make his goal of creating a Husky rescue in the Texas Coastal Bend a reality. He founded Rocky Road Husky Rescue in 2022.

Without Rocky ever coming into his world, he never would have wanted to learn more about the breed and what rescuing is all about. This is why this rescue is known as “The House that Rocky Built."

What's the #FiveSibes #WaitingWednesday
All About?

It's about becoming a "village" to help rescues, homeless Huskies, and all abandoned pets of any species in need. It's also to share breed information to help educate folks so they understand the traits, habits, and needs of specific breeds, such as the Siberian Husky,  BEFORE they welcome one into their home to ensure the home will be a forever one. While initially this was a blog hop, due to lack of participation, it is no longer a hop, but definitely a feature that will be reappearing with the hopes that you will share our blog post with others to help these beautiful homeless Huskies, Siberian Husky mixes, Malamutes, and other northern breed dogs find their loving forever families!

Also, please be sure to read a very important and informative blog article wrote, #BreedEducate2Relate: It Takes A Village to Help Huskies in Need about the explosion of Siberian Huskies being abandoned and to become on educated on the breed before welcoming one into a home, as well as an equally important companion article in 4Knines titled Siberian Husky Rescues: A Heartfelt Mission to Help the Homeless. I hope if you have not read these, you will and share with others, too.

How You Can Join in Our "Village" to  Help Homeless Huskies...

Simply SHARE this blog post with your followers! Maybe someone you know is looking for a beautiful forever Husky furry friend that is listed in our posts! And...if you'd like to write a blog post about what we are doing here at FiveSibes, feel free to include the image below and our blog address: https://fivesibes.blogspot.com

  4. Shared! What adorable dogs. I hope they all find loving homes soon. I SO wish I could adopt another dog, but my ark is full with the 2 I already have. Maybe someday, when we can buy a house of our own. Until then I do what I can to share dogs in need and help out at our local shelter.

  5. What a beautiful story and thank you Joshua for starting the Rescue, there are so many looking for homes. Rocky is just adorable and so blessed to have the Rescue named after him. Great post and thanks for highlighting how important rescue is as personally enough supporting the breeders and puppy mills and instead we need to open our homes to rescues

  7. Rescues are vitally important, especially for pedigree dogs and cats. People think they are just expensive but sometimes it takes skilled work to nurture and care for something like a Husky. These re wonderful dogs, they deserve good homes.

  9. I absolutely love your Waiting Wednesday. What a fabulous idea! It sure does feel like you were meant to be a conduit for saving Huskies and this a great way to do it. The story of Rocky is amazing. It's as if Rocky was waiting for Joshua to come along and save him. And Joshua needed Rocky to show him his path. It's a beautiful story. I really love how you've highlighted each dog and given instructions on how to adopt from Rocky Road Husky Rescue. Super idea! I'm sharing to all my pet parents and hoping they all get adopted quickly.
