Remembering Harley: Our Beautiful Alpha Queen on Her 2nd Rainbow Bridge Anniversary

Two years. It seems incredulous that it could be two years ago today that our beautiful alpha queen "Harley" - our first Siberian Husky and OG of the #FiveSibes pack family - earned her furangel wings.

Harley was, as my daughter put it, one "badass" dog. She was a beauty. She was Siberian Husky through and through. She could win you over with a blue-eyed glance. She was the love of Gibson's life from the moment he came home and she rolled him fluffy tail over head into our backyard pool! Oh, he was smitten. She suddenly found herself "momma" dog when we one day brought home not one, not two, but THREE puppies! She took Wolfie, Chloe, and Bandit under her wing as though they were her very own. Teaching them, correcting them with a nibble to the neck, loving them, snuggling with them, and engaging in crazy Husky play with them and Gibson.

She was an amazing dog. She was my daughter's dog. From the first day she came home as a puppy in our car during a rain storm, she relaxed as though she was born in one! Oh, how she loved car rides! And she was always such a lady. She'd jump in and sit by a window (belted in) and would just look out the window, never breaking her pose even as we pulled up to a drive-through window to get her an ice cream. She was a lucky pup, getting to ride in a police car, and she even attended court, winning over all the hearts of those she met. She attended parades with Gibson. And she ruled our yard as the queen she was!

Harley loved Fetch! She was always up for an energetic game of it, never tiring, even when this human was exhausted! She could run until the sun set, and even after. Harley loved to chase her tail, spinning around until finally she snarled a hair or two! She would grumble and growl when she played,  and tug on a toy until you had to relent! When it was summer, she was the first in the pool, doing a two-step to the hose as it filled the pool. And when it was time for the FiveSibes to chill, she would boss her way to the spot she wanted on the beds where they all snuggled together.

Harley was a star, and she knew it! She was featured in national magazines, and was a magazine cover dog--twice, and she starred in a music video! The queen also had a starring role in one of my children's FiveSibes Tale books, Getting Healthy With Harley!

When Gibson passed, Harley kept her pack family together and entertained, always looking after her "kids."

In their hey day, they all loved to snuggle, but Harley always picked her seat, and they all moved over for her!

"Someone asked me what the most difficult thing about having a dog was.
I replied, "the goodbye."

And Harley could be a comedienne! Check her out on trying to walk up the new ramp we put in for Chloe's rehab post-CCL surgery!

Right up until the day she earned her wings, even with her old age health issues, she could still run, just a little slower and more careful. While we were blessed to have had her for 14.5 years, there is never enough time with our beloved pets.

She was Gibson one true love, and a great "momma" to the Pupsters!

I sure do miss all that Siberian Husky pack play!

I picture her leaving our arms and running right into her forever world, north of the Rainbow Bridge, with all the effervescence she had in life.

She will always and forever be our alpha queen.

Harley, I hope you are enjoying zoomies with Gibson, Chloe, and Bandit, north of the Rainbow Bridge.

We will love and miss you always.
