#FlashbackFriday: Best Book Signing Ever! Special Guest: Buddy, the Christmas Husky!

Meeting Buddy will always be a special moment for me.

Wow! Today's Flashback is a very special anniversary…five years ago, August 12, 2016, I had a book signing for my book Buddy, The Christmas Husky~A True Holiday Miracle, and the real, very sweet and handsome Buddy, the Christmas Husky traveled from Georgia with Mama Shay, to join me!

2016 PR poster for event!

Along the way, they met up with Buddy’s road companion, Nala, who was on her way to her new forever home with momma Sue. Buddy and Nala were dubbed the #TravelingHuskies, as they traveled the East Coast, they stopped along the way to meet some wonderful #TeamBuddy friends! (If you're not familiar with the story, Team Buddy are all the wonderful folks from across the globe who came together to help Buddy, a once abandoned, abused, and wounded Siberian Husky who was rescued on Christmas Day by a kindhearted good Samaritan, Geneva Ryan before Shari "Mama Shay" Baillargeon came to forever foster him!)

Once we met up, getting Buddy and Nala kisses were the best! The breathtaking venue set against the backdrop of the Shawangunk Mountains was The Parish with our fabulous host, Matt. Neighboring Paws of Distinction catered some wonderful dog treats for the event and opened their doors for a visit!

Another dear friend, Holly, (Holly and the Huskies blog) along with her dad and Huskies Chip and Bree, traveled almost five hours just to meet with us! And our friends over at Husky House Siberian Husky & Fellow K-9 Rescue in New Jersey traveled almost two hours to come!

I loved writing this book, and my dear friend and talented artist, Barbara Slocum illustrated it. The book signing and meet and greet was so much fun to do with Buddy! I especially enjoyed seeing the children meet him! My dear friend Judy brought her grandson and he helped walk Buddy, and bring him cool water! Just watching the interactions of Buddy with everyone, especially the kids, was heartwarming! We met so many wonderful people that day! Some dear friends turned out, and we made some new ones! And the gorgeous Huskies were the real stars of the day! What a wonderfully memorable day!

Sadly, Buddy crossed the Rainbow Bridge the following year, and just last year, Holly lost her dad who had traveled with her, but that day will always be in our hearts forever.

This video from the event covers the highlights of our very special day! (PS - even though video says books are available, this was five years ago, and they currently are sold out. See note below)!
