#FlashbackFriday: Huskies Winter Chillaxin'

I was all set to share a fun summer pool pic today, when someone I know on Facebook posted a pic of a snowstorm and mentioned how when we are complaining about the heat, to remember that in 16 weeks, we'll be battling snowstorms! I'll admit, that was an eye opener! Plus, my daughter stopped off at Hobby Lobby today and purchased some cute autumn decorations (at 40% off already! So one has to scoop them up)! Talk about sitting back a second and thinking, wow...this summer is flying by and before we can say pumpkin spice latte, the snow will be flying! 

Naturally, when you have snowdogs in the family, the snow is a welcome sight! Nothing tickles the fancy of a Husky more than fresh, cold falling snow! I mean, look at just how comfy they are out on our covered deck as snow floated down all around. It's almost...magical! 

As pumpkin mugs and signs were being loaded into the back of my SUV and a winter blizzard scene was staring up at me from Facebook on my phone, I decided right then to swap out photos and go with the winter theme! After all, an afternoon out in the snow is a day at the beach for a Siberian Husky!

So, when you are looking to beat the heat, just think, soon enough you'll be looking for those wooly blankets and boots! Be sure to enjoy the rest of the summer cooling off in the pool or in the a/c with your beloved furry companions because (as they said in Game of Thrones) "Winter is Coming!"

#PrayersForHarley - Dewclaw Tumor

Dewclaws. Such an unnecessary evil for a dog. In August, I noticed Harley limping. At 11-and-a-half, she is a bit stiff-legged at times from arthritis, but this was a more pronounced limp and she was having an extra tough time sitting down. She seemed very uncomfortable. She was also becoming a bit snarley, especially when I was touching her paw, which is something that never typically bothers her. Upon further checking, I noticed an odd lump around her dewclaw on her right leg, thinking it was possibly a pulled dewclaw, maybe a splinter, thistle, or even a bee sting , she became extremely agitated when I touched it.    (Warning: some photos may be somewhat graphic, but I am sharing for educational purposes).   Oddity beneath the dew claw.   Off to the vet we went. At the vet, Harley is protective of her paw by hiding it . Harley's paw was shaved and it uncovered a very large inflamed area surrounding the dewclaw and beyond, as you can see in the below photo

The Rainbow Bridge Welcomes A New FurAngel - Buddy, the Christmas Husky - A Forever Symbol of Hope for Rescued Dogs
