#FindYourFido With #FiveSibes and the ASPCA! Plus A Gift Pack Giveaway!

Thinking about adding a new furry member to your family? Always dreamed of having a Siberian Husky, but did not know where to go to adopt one? We may be closing out October, but any month is a really good time to adopt! We here at FiveSibes have partnered up with the ASPCA for their #FindYourFido campaign to encourage adoption and share some amazing rescue Huskies and their stories as they wait for their loving forever home!

Be sure to enter our Giveaway for an
ASPCA #FindYourFido Gift Pack
at the end of this post!

According to the ASPCA, "around 3.3 million dogs enter U.S. shelters each year. With October being Adopt A Shelter Dog Month, the ASPCA just launched our #FindYourFido initiative for the second year in a row to raise awareness about dog adoption."

So, who is Fido? Fido is a cardboard cut-out who is an ambassador

just waiting to help spread the word about shelter and rescue dogs! You can visit the ASPCA page HERE and download an image of Fido to pose with your pets, or go with you to the pet food store, join you and your pups on a visit to the park, or better yet, take Fido with you to your local shelter and take a photo of him with some of the dogs just waiting for loving families to come adopt them. You can share your pics with #FindYourFido for all to see where you and Fido have been!

According to the ASPCA, in New York City, "The ASPCA is collaborating with popular entities like NYPD and City Hall to act as 'virtual fosters' to get Fido out into the community doing various activities like seeing a Broadway show, riding in an NYPD squad car, admiring the view atop the Empire State Building, etc. Around the country, the ASPCA is working with various animal shelters to join the #FindYourFido campaign. Hundreds of animal shelters have signed up to participate in the #FindYourFido campaign to increase the digital exposure of their adoptable dogs. Many of them will also be hosting Fido-themed adoption events this month to help more dogs find loving homes."

Do you have a Fido of your own? Share your adopted dog's photo with the hashtag #FindYourFido and share his/her story any time!

Visit ASPCA page here to find a map of shelters with adoptable "Fidos" near you! Looking for a Siberian Husky? Check out my list of rescues on my FiveSibes website HERE.

You can also donate to the ASPCA so they can continue helping dogs who are waiting for their perfect human!

Together, we can help the Fidos out there to -- instead of #FindYourFido, be a #FidoFindsFamily!!! We here at FiveSibes are highlighting some very special Siberian Huskies available for adoption below! If you adopt one, let us know! We love to share Happy Ending/New Beginning Stories! Now take a look at these beauties...and check out the cool ASPCA #FindYourFido Giveaway at the end of this post!

Meet Angel! "Angel is 7.5 years old and was rescued from a shelter. She is a very loving girl that craves attention and affection. She loves to be with people. She loves to cuddle with her foster parents, go for walks, run at the dog park and go for car rides. She is a typical Husky with Houdini traits (and tries to climb the chain link fence), and does counter surf. An experienced husky home would be best for her. Angel can be a diva at times and is selective with other dogs, she would probably love being an only dog. Angel has Zinc-Responsive Dermatosis. She currently takes zinc, prednisone, and a vitamin daily. She also gets an injection every 3 months to help with itching. She has gained some weight due to the prednisone. Give this special needs beauty a chance, she will steal your heart, and will make a wonderful addition to a loving home!" ~Adopt A Husky Minnesota
*Applications for Angel accepted from MN, and parts of ND, SD, IA, and WI.*  For Angel's adoption information, visit HERE, or Email: info@aahmn.org

Meet
Cedric!
"Cedric came to AAHMN from a shelter, as an owner surrender. He was released to us by the shelter after they were informed that he has seizures, and they did not have the necessary staff to monitor him over the weekend. He has has a few seizures while in our care. Our team of veterinarians are working on a treatment plan for him, and we are closely monitoring his health. We believe that with a daily medication we will be able to control these seizures and find him a loving forever home. He is 1 year and 8 months old and 60 pounds. He loves to run and play inside of a fenced yard with his foster siblings. Mr. Cedric prefers to be around humans more then his dog friends, and follows us around the house wherever we go; and he LOVES (truly loves) to cuddle with his family." ~Adopt A Husky Minnesota
For Cedric's adoption information, visit HERE, or Email: info@aahmn.org
*FiveSibes Note: With special care and lots of love, dogs with seizures and/or Canine Epilepsy can live full happy lives. Need more info? Visit our #LiveGibStrong K-9 Epilepsy Awareness library HERE.

Meet Athena! "A puppy should always live a playful, happy life. However, that was not the case with Athena. She endured physical abuse and neglect from the beginning. Athena has not had any training to bring out the best in her, so she needs a patient Northern Breed savvy adopter. Someone who can help with teaching her the basics. Despite what Athena has endured, she is a very sweet girl, a big talker, and loves to follow her person and stay close. Athena is not good with little dogs or cats but is great with older kids. Athena, who is 1, deserves a loving family that will give her the time and attention she needs and deserves. If you're that special person, open your heart and show Athena what unconditional love really is." ~Forever Husky
*Applications for adopting Athena accepted for families within a 150 miles of Crystal Lake, IL.* For Athena's adoption information, visit www.ForeverHusky.org

Meet Chico! "This awesome 3-year-old Husky boy is looking for his loving forever home. When it comes to his canine friends, Chico gets along well with other dogs who like him first. He is very active, full of energy, and will need a home with a fully fenced in, secure yard where he can run and play. He is also very vocal and loves to sing and howl. Due to this, he would not do well in an apartment or townhouse. Please, no homes with cats or small dogs." ~Husky House Siberian Husky & Fellow K9 Rescue
For Chico's adoption information, please visit HERE to fill out an adoption application.

Meet Frankie! "Frankie is my foster dog. He is two and fully embodies the Husky spirit - sweet, affectionate, and sassy! Frankie adores other dogs and his humans. He needs another large dog to play with all day long." ~Samira, Foster Mom, Luna Siberian Husky Rescue

Prospective adopters can Email samira@samira.net for more information, and visit rescue website at: lunasiberianrescue.dog.

Meet Shadow! "Shadow is a three-year-old male Siberian Husky. He is a handsome, tall and lean Husky who was picked up as a stray and never claimed by his previous owner. Shadow appears to do well with other dogs outside the home, but inside appears to be territorial with them. This is something that will involve a lot of training, patience, and time to work through and would require working with a professional. We believe Shadow would do best as an only Husky. Because of his territorial behavior in the home, there should be NO other animals such as cats either as he has shown aggression towards them. Shadow is very friendly and playful with humans. He has a silly personality and when playful, he rolls around on the floor looking for humans to interact with him. He welcomes belly rubs as well. He will sit on command with or without treats. He is likely to be an escape artist from us observing his behavior and inspection of gates and of the perimeter of his outside environment, including his nudging and pushing the locks on the gates with his nose. Shadow has shown some destruction when left on his own uncrated, so we recommend crating him until he adapts to his home setting and demonstrates he can be trusted on his own. Shadow rides well in the car, sitting nicely in the seat or laying his head on your lap or shoulder. Shadow is housebroken, healthy, neutered, heartworm negative, current on vaccines, and microchipped." ~Siberian Husky Rescue of Florida

Meet Sylvia! "She’s our sweet and loving girl who is looking for her FURever home. She’s a happy and playful girl who is almost 9 years old, but acts like she's 3! She never had any toys, but she sure loves them now! Sylvia gets along with other dogs, but we are not sure about cats. She is a cute talker, especially at dinnertime! She is current on vaccines, spayed and on monthly flea/hw prevention." ~MUSH Rescue of Atlanta
For Sylvia's adoption information, please email adopt@mushrescue.com

Meet
Dougie!
"Dougie is a one year and eight month old male that we took in back in February from a shelter on Long Island. He had an angle deformity, were he needed specialized surgery on his leg. Dougie was evaluated by the the orthopedic surgeon in New York in April and the deformity was so severe that they actually had to make a 3-D model of his leg to practice on before they did the surgery. They had to break his femur and straighten it out, and put a plate in. He was on six weeks bed rest after that and then had to have a second surgery because his kneecap was out. At that time, his leg healed so well they took the plate out. He’s now on his second round of bed rest. Dougie will hopefully be available for adoption by the holidays. He’s a good, fun-loving boy who does well with the dogs and cats his foster mom has. When we first got him, he could not even get himself up on a bed or run around with the other dogs. Now, he’s expected to fully recover and be able to run jump and play like any normal Husky." ~Northern Exposure Siberian Husky Rescue

Meet Spike!
"Rescued from a puppy mill, 3-year-old Spike is good with people and other dogs. He is extremely high energy and would do best in an active home. Please no homes with small animals or cats." ~Husky House Siberian Husky & Fellow K9 Rescue

Meet Maalik & Neva!
Talk about being GIFTED. This bonded-pair is now at FSSR - all the way from Doha, Qatar. Maalik and Neva are super special, have been with each other their entire lives, and depend on one another. They will make your heart actually melt. They love each other and have traveled a great distance to wait to share their special love with you! Maalik is such a big LOVE and will give you huge kisses, for any attention you show him. He loves to be brushed and will sit by your feet for hours. Neva is very shy, but warms right up, with soft tones, gentle cuddles, and approval from her mate. Then she gives paw and cuddles up against you. They are both crate-trained, potty-trained, and extremely quiet. They only walk, together, but are gentle enough for one person. He will hug you and she will throw her head into you for some loving! This amazing couple will, easily, become a part of your family and turn into the "couch potatoes" you have always wanted! These dogs are so FULL of love and just waiting to tell someone their stories! From the hot desert of Qatar these two will warm you up - Forever!" ~Free Spirit Siberian Husky Rescue
Maalik & Neva's adoption information, please visit HERE.

Meet Canele! "TSDR's Canele is a young (1.5yrs old), high energy girl who loves to play and is quite vocal about it!! She is house and crate trained, and has made a lot of progress on her house manners, like not jumping on humans or counter-surfing. She absolutely loves the water, including the beach and will try to play and swim in anything that has water, even a horse trough! This girl has a lot of personality and a zest for life and looking for a family who shares her crazy attitude on life!! She is being fostered in Corpus Christi, TX, but she and her foster family do frequent road trips for rescue adoption events and family events throughout Texas. Note: Her "tear staining" is from clogged eye ducts, no irritation or entropion." ~Texas Sled Dog Rescue
For Canele's adoption information, please Email adoption@texassleddogrescue.org

Meet Lily! Blue-eyed Lily is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm and Lyme negative. She is good with other dogs, walks well on leash, and enjoys short rides.  Lily was surrendered with her canine buddy Mookie. She is aloof until relaxed with new people. Lily is loving, gentle and eager to please when properly guided. She will do best with Sibe-experienced humans who understand how to build her confidence and train using positive methods. If you have the love, patience and dedication to polish this diamond in the rough, she will reward you with a lifetime of devoted canine devotion. She has made great progress once being with people who enjoy her company." ~Tundra Spirits

  1. What adorable faces! We hope each and every one of them finds their fur-ever home soon. 🎃Yappy Howloween from everyfurry one at the Ranch

  2. I keep seeing posts on Facebook of Huskies in need of homes. (at high kill shelters) It's so very sad.

  3. Not only is that statistic of number of dogs entering shelters each year staggering, what is even more sickening is how many DON'T make it out alive because of our kill mentality. You're amazing to partner up with such a large organisation to help promote husky adoption and there are some gorgeous dogs looking for forever homes. I hope you have lots of happy stories to share with us, and I'm going to help you promote this as well on my social media platforms.

  4. Ahhhh your pups are so cute! I love what the ASPA is doing with the NYPD to try and keep pups out of puppy jail. I want a Siberian Husky so bad :)

  5. Wow, such gorgeous dogs! So glad they have you on their side promoting adoption for such worthy canines.

  6. Oh how I wish I could take one of these beautiful babies home to my girls, Icy & Phoebe! I look forward to the day I can rescue a Husky, adding to my Sibe Tribe of only one. I found my Fido, Phoebe at the county animal shelter I was volunteering for in Phoenix. She is such a joy!

  7. What handsome dogs and pray they find homes soon. Layla I found online - PetHarbor.com - I had 5 days to find a dog while a friend of mine was in LA - an online affair but the rest is history

  8. I hope they all find homes! I found Cedric particularly appealing but I know a dog would not fit in my family or my lifestyle. It’s important to think that stuff through so animals don’t end up in shelters. I heard a super sad story this week of someone surrendering their 16!! Year old ragdoll cat because they got a puppy.

  9. We found our dog at a high kill shelter several hours from our house.

  10. So many lovely dogs looking for their forever homes! I hope they are fortunate to get the home they so deserve! Good luck to all that enter the giveaway!

  11. Oh what a great thing the ASPCA is doing to help get dogs adopted. I'll have to share this post to spread the word. I hope all these huskies find their forever homes just in time for the holidays.

  12. Aww what adorable fur babies! I hope they all find loving homes

  13. Those are a lot of truly gorgeous huskies. Unfortunately we not longer have a big yard and we have Kilo the Pug and he is short but fierce- he likes being and only pet. I hope they all find great homes soon. Love the Finding Fido initiative.

  14. Such a fantastic initiative! Thank you for introducing this and for sharing all the adoptables. Our crew are all rescues. I will definitely have to add this hastag to promote and paw it forward.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I had never heard of Find Your Fido! What a great idea. Both my dogs are rescues and I can't imagine my life without them.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Thank you for being a voice for adoption! It's a topic that's near and dear to our hearts. The hashtag is just purrfect, too.

  17. I hope they all find wonderful homes! We adopted our dog at the local shelter. I just had a feeling it was time to add a third dog and bizarrely my husband agreed. I took the kids to the shelter and they immediately drawn to the same dog. I made us wait another day and visited another shelter that had puppies, but he was the only one they wanted.

  18. Someone near us was walking a husky type dog, and your blog is such a good place to help me find out about them.

I am not sure about a lot of owners more than the dogs.....

    ReplyDelete
  19. Aww; love this project. I hope many babies find their homes.

    ReplyDelete
  20. It's always so surprising to me how many "purebred" dogs and cats are in shelters and rescues. I truly believe one of the major problems is that people don't research the breeds. Good luck with this project.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Our family has been blessed with many rescue pups over the years. We have a Corgi that someone discarded after realizing they didn't like having a small dog. We also have 2 pups that were dumped out in the country where we live and we nurtured them back to health. All of our fur babies are so very special to us and they are valued members of our family.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Beautiful babies! I do foster fur babies that are in need of a loving home as often as I can, my breed is Boxers and I happened to find my Boxweiler baby as a rescue that I fostered before adopting her myself.
