Newsy Tuesday: #FiveSibes Book Nook Time! "Alaskan Holiday" by Debbie Macomber!


What is FiveSibesMom reading?

 In addition to being a writer, I love to read! No surprise there! And romances, action/romances, and westerns have always been my favorite genres to read and write!  I have a slew of favorite authors and genres of books in my library, but one of my all-time favorite authors is Debbie Macomber, also known as "the official storyteller of Christmas!" I'm such a fangirl of her books, especially any one on Christmas, as well as her TV Christmas movies, the book series and TV series "Cedar Cove" that aired on Hallmark Channel. Her books are sweet, slice of life stories that always leave me feeling the warm and fuzzies! So, when I heard her new holiday book, Alaskan Holiday, was just released, I immediately pre-ordered it! And Northern Breed dog lovers, check out that pretty awesome cover design! I am so excited to now have this book in my hot little hands and am, of course, enjoying the story. 
Just a few books from my Debbie Macomber collection!

Set in Alaska, the story evolves around Josie, who leaves Seattle for a summer sous chef position at a lakeside lodge in Alaska, and meets Palmer, a master swordsmith! Already this book sounds very interesting! You know she "cooked" up a good story here. And my dear FiveSibes readers, once again Ms. Macomber does not disappoint! Alaskan Holiday is a wonderful holiday present for your favorite reader, or a great gift for yourself! For me, there is no better way to get myself into the spirit of the holiday season than to curl up with my Huskies and a good book like Alaskan Holiday (or any of her other Christmas books)!

Happy Birthday, Debbie Macomber!

 Ms. Macomber just celebrated her birthday on October 22, for which my FiveSibes and I shared the below video card on Twitter...and the icing on the cake was when I received a lovely message back! I'm still fangirling!

Many of you may, or many not know, I also love to cook, and especially bake. And, I also have been collecting cookbooks for over (gulp) 40 years! Did you know that Debbie Macomber, not only writes about characters with real careers in today's world, but in Alaskan Holiday her lead female character, Josie, is a chef! Here is a bit of trivia...did you know she has also published cookbooks, including ones that have recipes from her series, Cedar Cove (which, by the way, I loved the TV series, too)! And what is a holiday season without some tasty holiday desserts and dishes? Here's some links to her cookbooks you know I have in my collection!










So, whip up a tasty treat, snuggle with your pet in front of a cozy fire (or faux fire), and read Alaskan Holiday, (or watch one of Debbie Macomber's Christmas movies), and bring on the holidays!

#PrayersForHarley - Dewclaw Tumor

Dewclaws. Such an unnecessary evil for a dog. In August, I noticed Harley limping. At 11-and-a-half, she is a bit stiff-legged at times from arthritis, but this was a more pronounced limp and she was having an extra tough time sitting down. She seemed very uncomfortable. She was also becoming a bit snarley, especially when I was touching her paw, which is something that never typically bothers her. Upon further checking, I noticed an odd lump around her dewclaw on her right leg, thinking it was possibly a pulled dewclaw, maybe a splinter, thistle, or even a bee sting , she became extremely agitated when I touched it.    (Warning: some photos may be somewhat graphic, but I am sharing for educational purposes).   Oddity beneath the dew claw.   Off to the vet we went. The Rainbow Bridge Welcomes A New FurAngel - Buddy, the Christmas Husky - A Forever Symbol of Hope for Rescued Dogs

My beloved Gibson is there. As is my Chelsey, Sandy, kitty Smokie, bunny Sunny, my fox Ah, many horses, and so many others pets. We have many furfriends who have also crossed The Rainbow Bridge. All of these beloved animals are there...so healthy and happy, with all the dogs enjoying their zoomies and playing Fetch all day in a land that is eternally beautiful. Sounds perfect. Only catch is when our devoted companions are there, we can no longer physically be with them. So while they are in a place where the spirit soars, our hearts are broken as we are missing them here with us. Fit For Our #FiveSibes Alpha Queen: Celebrating Harley's 14½ Birthday

Born on March 10, 2005, our beautiful alpha queen, pupster surrogate momma, and my daughter's and our first Siberian Husky,  turns 14½ today! You may be wondering why are we celebrating her half birthday? Because, as heartbreaking as it is, we now know she will not be here in March to celebrate her 15th Birthday as I once had hoped. Heartfelt thanks to Ann at Zoolatry for this beautiful badge. Thank you all who are sharing it and joining paws for our girl. As amazing and strong as our queen has been, and how proud I have been of how she still could outrun Pupsters Wolf and Bandit, still splash in her pool like a puppy, tear up a dog bed like there's no tomorrow, and chase her tail until the sun sets, our beloved Husky leader has also been dealing with health issues that we have been treating, but are now slowing her down and, heartbreakingly we are preparing ourselves for her journey, that we as pet parents all dread, to the Rainbow Bridge.  “Dogs' lives a...
