Remembering a Furfriend: Icy, the Siberian Husky Therapy Dog

Today's blog post is in memory of beautiful "Icy" the Therapy Dog of DogsLuvUsAndWeLuvThem.com.

Please join us in sending soft woos northward as my longtime friend and fellow dog blogger and Siberian Husky lover, Cathy Armato of Dogs Luv Us and We Luv Them recently had to bid goodbye to her beautiful girl “Icy” who has earned her furangel wings.

Here in the pet blogging universe, we all have become like a family. Some of our relationships go back years. For many of us in this wonderful pet community, especially in the Siberian Husky and canine world, know of Cathy and her fun travels with her dogs and her wonderful articles about their adventures and dog-friendly places to stay. I "met" Cathy over a decade ago as fellow dog writers and Husky lovers.

Her sweet Icy, who was also a working Therapy Dog, celebrated her 15th birthday this past September with a party as seen in Cathy's pic below...and while we know that is a fantastic age for our dogs to get to, it's never enough time with our beloved furbabies.

Icy was also a FiveSibes #MerryMeme star for several caption contests...

 and...

Icy was one of the featured working Therapy Dogs in my slideshow video, where she enjoyed working with children, students, and the elderly...

Click on the image below to see Icy working depicted by photos in the slideshow beginning at 2:02.

And Icy was a beautiful book model for the release of my book Buddy, the Christmas Husky~A True Holiday Miracle her hu-mom bought...look at her gorgeous smile!

Cathy shared many, many wonderful posts about traveling, hiking, and visiting dog-friendly destinations with her beloved Icy, furangel Phoebe, and new pup Jessie.

My heart breaks for Cathy and her family. Any of us who have been lucky enough to share our life with a beloved dog, know this pain all too well. As the quote goes:

“Where there is deep grief, there is deep love.”

Oh, how true. And every single wonderful moment filled with so much love of being with our beloved pets is worth the grief in the end. Then, one day, that grief will ebb, and all the joyful memories will be front and center for us to all relive once again, reminding us of all those joyful times that filled our hearts with so much love. And in that is where we will find true healing.

Run free, dear Icy. Find my FiveSibes and your packmate furangel sister, Phoebe, and have some forever zoomies north of the Rainbow Bridge. You will always be in the hearts of all who loved you.

Sending big teary hugs to you, Cathy, and your family.

You can leave your thoughts, memories of Icy, and condolences over on Cathy's DogsLuvUsAndWeLuvThem.com. or on their Dogs Luv Us And We Luv Them Facebook page.
