#FlashbackFriday: Earth Day Tips to Reduce Carbon Pawprints & Invest in Our Planet
Every time I look at this photo of our alpha queen, Harley, from May 2018, eagerly anticipating eating this homemade cake pop, I often think how the cake pop looks like our planet Earth. So what a perfect photo for today's #FlashbackFriday pic ~ and in celebration of Earth Day and this year's theme of #InvestInOurPlanet.
"This is the moment to change it all — the business climate, the political climate, and how we take action on climate. Now is the time for the unstoppable courage to preserve and protect our health, our families, and our livelihoods.... For Earth Day 2023, we need to act (boldly), innovate (broadly), and implement (equitably). Businesses, governments, and citizens — everyone accounted for, and everyone accountable.
A partnership for the planet...It’s going to take all of us. All in."

To help do our part again this year, I am resharing a few of our #FiveSibes tips to help reduce your pet's carbon pawprint:
🐾 Spay or neuter pets to reduce overpopulation and the epidemic of homeless pets in shelters and rescues.
🐾 Walk you dog whenever possible instead of going for car rides.
🐾 Use recycle bags whenever going shopping for your pet's food & supplies.
🐾 Make your pet's snacks whenever possible.
🐾 Recycle your pet's food containers instead of throwing them away.
🐾 Feed your pet using a stainless steel dish.
🐾 Use biodegradable "green" non-toxic cleaning products.
🐾 Plant a tree in memory of beloved pet who has passed.
🐾 Recycle your pet's medication containers. (Check with your vet, or even your acupuncturist if they accept empty containers).
🐾 Use biodegradable "doggy do" clean-up bags.
🐾 Don't use the microwave to warm up your pet's food.
🐾 Recycle your pet's used pool water or warm drinking water to water plants, shrubs, and trees.
🐾 Stitch up unwanted pet beds and toys and donate them to a rescue or shelter.
🐾 Turn off lights, cell phones, computers, tablets, and all electronic devices and get outside with your pets!
Here is another past Earth Day pic of our Harley, having fun running in the green grass on this planet of ours that we all need to work together to keep healthy for generations to come.

ReplyDeleteThose were wonderful tips! Happy Earth Day from all of us, we love our planet!
ReplyDeleteHere in New zealand we have banned plastic carrier bags (and some people literally won't spend 20 cents on a paper bag to take them home. They take the trolley out to the car and dump everything in the boot of heir car!). We can make a difference but we need to shfit our asses into gear and stop the foolish people denying climate change.

OMG!!!! What wonderful ideas to love the planet on Earth Day!
ReplyDeleteHarley is so adorable is the photos, especially as she's going after the cake pop.
I really love turning off everything, disconnecting and getting outside more. I think we all need to do that more and if we did it more maybe we'd appreciate and treat Mother Earth with a bit more respect. It's always amazing to me how much trash I pick up each week that people just throw out their windows as driving or walking. How crazy is that? I don't go to their home and litter. Why do they treat the Earth as a big dumpsite?
Excellent information as always and I'm sharing with all my dog parents.
Aww. I love the throwback of Harley eagerly awaiting that cake pop! Too cute! These are wonderful reminders to help mother Earth for Earth day. I use reusable canvas bags and now in the state of NJ plastic is no longer allowed. I've also planted a tree in loving memory of passed on family members too. There are so many helpful ways to do our part to help the planet. I'll be sharing!
