Our Snow Queen All Aglow in the Midnight Snow on a #FiveSibes Flashback Friday

Our FiveSibes Snow Queen Aglow in the Midnight Snow
Woo! We are back! After a few intense setbacks, like first FiveSibesMom here taking a bad fall several weeks ago. While letting the Huskies out after a snow and ice storm, I seriously had just taken one step outside onto the deck when I slipped on black ice and landed down on the deck--Husky level, which they all thought was fabulous and assumed I was down there to play.

Unfortunately, the series of "cracks" I heard led to a fractured ankle, and a dislocated shoulder, elbow, and left knee! And, all of these injuries does not bode well for most, especially with me with already butting heads with Fibromyalgia and RA. Needless to say, I have been a hurtin' pup packed in ice with my foot booted (and it's my driving foot!) *im*patiently waiting to heal.

Then, sadly, I received some devastating news that a family member very dear to me suddenly passed away. We grew up together as close as sisters, and I'm devastated. So, dear readers,  I haven't hosted my blog hop for a couple weeks. Between grief and injury, there has not been much room for creativity. But, we are back today and trying to move ahead with positive thoughts, remembering happier times, and making new memories.

A snow dog's nighttime playground!
Can you spot Harley, Wolf, and Bandit?!

While Punxsutawney Phil may not have seen his shadow, Mother Nature does not seem to notice that we are into March and a supposed early spring according to PP as she is still giving us cold temperatures and periodic snow squalls and storms. On this night, the snow was gently falling for awhile when I let the Huskies out to play and between the silence you only can experience during a fresh snowfall, and the cleanliness, and the crispness in the air...it's a beautiful peace that is hard to beat.

Watching my FiveSibes romp and enjoy the snow for the love that is deep in their genetics, brings me such joy. Our alpha queen, Harley, who will be celebrating her 14th Birthday in a few days, loved catching some snowflakes, chasing her tail in the snow, and doing a little "snowplowing" with her nose! It brings me such joy to see my senior gal still being a Husky pup and loving the snow. As our back porch light set the deck and yard aglow in a golden light, Harley came up to greet me with the snow falling all around us, with some flakes sprinkled across her back shimmering like diamonds scattered on black velvet. And, in that very moment, I felt so in tune with her...and just fell in love all over again with her stunning beauty that age has not yet touched.
And I feel blessed.

Sweet, smart, and bossy, Harley truly
our beautiful snow queen.

  5. And a beautiful Snow Queen Harley is!!!

So sorry to hear of your injury. Mom worries all the time about falling. When Lightning tore his CCL and we had ice and snow in November, she got a pair of YakTrax for her feet. She has worn them more than her boots - they are great for gripping the ice. Strongly recommend them. We send you lots of POTP and prayers for a speedy recovery. Hugs.

  9. I am mid-SEO course at the moment to have my head down too, although not so far down or as suddenly as you. * OUCH * I bet the dogs thought it was the best fun (right ;-) )

Get well soon and get back fighting. I feel I have lost almost five years since Dash died and only now feel I am getting back. One day my blog will take off and I will visit the USDA again (and Canada) too!

  12. I absolutely loved it when I had a snow dog like Harley. My springer spaniel, Cassie, loved to roll in the snow and make snow angels. I miss that so much. Buffy, my senior cocker, just hates the snow.

Well it is March 10th, so hopefully the ice will melt soon and you will be on the mend. It's been a very hard winter here as well.
