Sending Comfort and Care to Huskies and Their Hu-Parents
Today's blog is dedicated to two furpals - Keva from Forida, and Zen from Canada.
Keva is a senior Husky who is an amazing age of 16, and one of several furloves of her hu-daddy. Keva is now severely arthritic and sadly, is now failing and her hu-dad has been carrying her now to go for truck rides (which she loves!) She spends her days laying in the warm Florida sunshine surrounded by her hu-dad and her pack mates. Sadly, her hu-dad informs me she is getting ready to cross the Rainbow Bridge soon. Keva, you and are in our thoughts. May you stay strong girl.
Zen is from Canada, and is in her final stages of battling cancer. Many already know of Zen and sister Freya who are both battling cancer. This past June, I posted a blog article titled, Zen & Freya: Waging War on Canine Cancer and About How Sometimes Asking for Help Brings Help to Others. According to her hu-mom, Zen wasn't feeling well the past few days and was back in to the vet hospital where they announced her cancer has spread and she is at the golden days of her time here on earth. On an up note for a sad announcement, the most recent update on her Help Save Zen Facebook page, Zen's meds have been changed and are giving her more pain relief so she can enjoy whatever her remaining time is being happy and playful with her pack mates. Zen, we are thinking of you! And, on the 27th of this month, Zen celebrates her 11th birthday. To honor that day and her brave battle against cancer, her hu-mom is holding a month-long auction of her Furbaby items where 50% of proceeds will benefit Canine Cancer Research. So please visit her Facebook Auction page, put in a bid, send Zen some birthday wishes, and tell them the FiveSibes sent you!
This is a wonderful community we have here of pet parents and animal lovers. In corresponding with Keva's hu-dad and Zen's hu-mom, they are both having a difficult time, as any of us would, knowing their time with their beloved furbabies is growing limited as they prepare to cross the Rainbow Bridge. They both are spending as much time as they can with their babies, and may that time bring them the peace and memories they will cherish in the future.
A Special Request. Keva's hu-dad mentioned in passing how his final wish would be for an urn for Keva's final resting place when her day comes, so she can always be near him. However, he is on a fixed income with no family to help. I would like to help. I would like to ask anyone who can donate even the smallest amount of change to help. I have set up a Chip-In donation collection (see below) and am hoping to collect $125 to purchase an urn and have it engraved and sent to Keva's hu-dad, who I know this would mean the world to. If you can't donate, that's okay - well wishes are always welcomed!
This morning on our Facebook page, we posted this video for Keva & Zen. It's our FiveSibes™ singing their wolfsong of well wishes to both of these sweet furbabies, whom we had the pleasure of meeting through the wonderful world of pet social networking. Let's all join in a pawcircle of hope, healing, happiness, health, and strength for these two beautiful brave Siberian Husky girls.
