May All Be Safe In Hurricane Florence's Path & Our #FiveSibes Safety Tips

We here at FiveSibes are keeping everyone who will be affected by Hurricane Florence in our thoughts and prayers.  If you are evacuating, please be sure to take your pets to either wherever you are going, or safely with a friend out of the hurricane's path.

Above we share a few important tips to keep in mind. Please feel free to share! It is also posted (and you can share) on our FiveSibes: Siberian Husky K9 News & Reviews Facebook page.

Our #1 Tip: Please, do not leave your pet(s) behind. If you need to evacuate, please call ahead to the shelter or place you will be staying to be sure they accept pets. Some do not permit animals.

Our #2 Tip: When traveling, please be sure to crate or safety belt your pet in the vehicle.

Our #3 Tip: Be sure to have both tags and microchip info up-to-date (including at the vet's office where the microchip company calls),  just in case they escape from you.

Our #4 Tip:  Bring along a fully-stocked "to go" First Aid Kit, and include meds, supplements, pet's ID, health records, emergency contact information, extra harness and leash, and bottles of water, food, treats, and dishes. Don't forget your pets favorite "lovey" stuffy or blanket to help keep them calm.

In the event your pet becomes lost (and we sure hope not), or you find another lost pet in your travels, check our listing of Lost & Found resources on our website at FiveSibes.com

Above all, please be safe.

Today we are joining in the weekly Pet Parade Blog Hop hosted by Dash Kitten, Bionic Basil, and Barking From the Bayou.

Sadly, Basil, one of the co-hosts of The Pet Parade, has crossed The Rainbow Bridge. Today's blog post is dedicated in his memory. Please stop by Bionic Basil's blog to read a touching tribute and leave some warm memories or words of comfort for Basil's family.
Run Free Forever, Basil.

  4. We don’t live in the way of the hurricane but I keep having a dream about having to evacuate with our kitties! It’s terrifying and thinking about all those who are having to deal with this. Prayers and hugs.

  5. Our paws and fingers are crossed for all those effected by the hurricane. I join you in hoping no pets were left behind! I saw a great story about people lining up at shelters in NC to foster dogs so the shelter could evacuate.

  6. First of all let me extend my condolences on the loss of Basil. Great tips and definitely a reminder to everyone to have their pets microchipped and tags with updated contact info. Having a bag packed with first aid and other supplies, including copies of medical records is a great idea and something we should all have no matter where we live.

  8. It is so important to be prepared for an emergency and many people do not think about their pets so this is a great reminder. I hope people and pets stay safe in the path of the hurricane. I saw a few people evacuating with their pets. So sorry to hear about Basil.

  9. These are important reminders! I was watching the news and there was a dog on top of his dog house and the water was almost up to the roof. It just breaks my heart. Hopefully, someone was able to get him.

  10. Our thoughts & prayers have been with those impacted by hurricane Florence as well. The event itself plus the aftermath will be so difficult for many people. We've been glued to the TV. I would never leave my furbabies behind, never. That's a dangerous thing to do.

  11. I am just glad we only ever had dogs. I can't imagine what I'd do if we had horses, or goats, and some disaster stroke.

  12. Great tips for if you need to evacuate with a dog. We were lucky Hurricane Florence took a more northward track above us and we didn't need to evacuate.
