An Update on Chloe and a Family Thank You!

An Update on Chloe

Chloe is continuing well with her recuperation from her June 6th surgery. To recap, she had to have an emergency double Bilateral Cruciate Imbrication on her hind legs for torn CCLs (ACLs on humans) and torn meniscuses after her attempt to jump up on the bed (which she has done hundreds of times). Best guess is she either was born with weak knee issues and over time the daily wear and tear literally tore her knees up, or she injured one of her knees during one of her play runs and tumbles and then overcompensated for it, thereby damaging the other. Whichever came first, the end result was the same - she apparently did not have healthy knees and she had badly damaged both to the point where she collapsed and could not walk. (For the full story on Chloe, visit our Pawcircle of Healing for Chloe, then Welcome Home, Chloe and For the Love of Chloe posts).

Since then, she's been crated 24/7 with an E-collar and for the first week she was carried in and out of the house for nature calls. Then she began "walking" with the help of a sling and leash. Now, here we are one month later and our sweet girl having a good stretch and getting back to herself by being happily verbal about being able to do so! She is loving her little moments out of the crate and without the E-collar! (As of yesterday, she is no longer wearing it. She is a very happy Husky about that!) Each day, she is getting a little stronger and gaining a tiny bit more strength in her legs. Still a long way to go, but she is an amazing patient!

During one of her walks, now without the assistance of the sling, Chloe gets a visit by her sister, Bandit, who is missing her partner in play very much.

Every few steps, Chloe takes a little break to rest her legs and breathe in a little fresh air.

Here is our little champion walking up the ramp Hu-Dad made just for her! You can see the happy determination in her face.

Mail Call!

We would also like to thank everyone so very much for the all the support along the way and the continued good wishes, thoughtful notes, cards, and Emails! We were so touched and surprised to receive some (p)awesome Get Well gifts for our sweet Chloe, too, that we just had to share them with you!

Here is Chloe with her very first Get Well card straight from the Everglades in Florida from Mike and his Husky furkids BooBoo and Sportergirl!

"BOL! Love the card, BooBoo, Sportergirl & Hu-Dad!"

And here is Chloe with a beautiful homemade heart-shaped pillow straight from the heart of Texas to help keep her comfy in her E-collar from handsome husky Mustang and Hu-Mom Cathy! She just loves it!

"Wooo...comfy. Woo-ooo, Mustang, woo are handsome!"

"Fits me perfectly! Thanks, Mustang's Mom!"

And this package arrived from friends in Germany - the very handsome Fox brothers, Buddy and Sammy, and their Hu-Mom Anni!

What a great stuffy buddy and pillow with squeakers, so while she is recuperating by herself, she has some good ol' squakers to keep her occupied!

"Wooo...a stuffy buddy! Danke Anni, Buddy & Sammy!"

Heartfelt Thanks!

Chloe loves her very special gifts, cards, comments, Emails, prayers, pawcircles, and healing vibes! And all of us here are just so touched by all the kindness. With so many wonderful thoughts and prayers coming her way, we know she feels it and it is helping her to heal. This is such an amazing community!

"Thank woo, everyone!!!"

With Chloe's care, and her brother Gibson not feeling well (will be posting about him at a later date), I have not been able to visit everyone's blog lately, but have been popping in on a few at a time. I look forward to catching up with everyone and hope all is well with you and your furkids. And many thanks, once again, for all  your wonderful support! Words will never be able to fully express our gratitude. ❤

  3. Oh my goodness I have missed all that has gone in with Chloe and I'm glad she is doing so well. She is quite the talker (your video) telling you whats up. Now that Tucker has figured out how to jump on our bed I'm wondering if this is good or not. So grateful that Chloe's surgery went so well and I'm sending many get well wishes her way for a speedy recovery.

    Take care all of you!
