Article Updated 04/04/2024 T here is a lot of buzz about the upcoming solar eclipse, especially for folks who are in the path of totality. No matter where you live, if you plan on watching the solar eclipse, aside from protecting your eyes from “eclipse blindness” with special American Astronomical Society approved eclipse glasses, but did you know that the eclipse could have an affect on your Epi-dog (epileptic dog)? With the simulation of “night” as the sun is covered by the moon, animals may go into a nocturnal mode, or seem restless or confused, while others, will be unfazed. However, the excitement of the eclipse by humans could create excitement in our dogs, whether they have epilepsy or not, as they pick up on our energy and moods. The same as with non-epileptic dogs, if there is a lot of noise, whistling, clapping, or fireworks to celebrate, dogs could be frightened and attempt to escape. As with any loud or stressful holiday or event, be sure to have your pets se
Thanks for the smile. I love how Wolf kept digging through the toy bin, just had to find the right toy. :) We are seeing a lot of the same snoozing pups at our house too. Be cool! :)
ReplyDeleteWooo! We will all be dreaming of snow!

I feel so sorry for all my pup furends that are in that heatwave. It's winter for us so it's "coat time" here. Only I hate coats.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you have perfected ways to cope!!!
Tail Wuggles, Rubie.
Oh YEAH... Kill that Stuffie!! I LOVE a good De-stuffing.
ReplyDeleteHey.. Sarge just LOVES the Treat Dispenser Thinking Thingy that you sent to him. THAT is a GRRRRREAT Prize you chose!!!
My guys are getting bored too, but they seem to know how hot it is outside and even in the cooler AC'd house they are fairly dormant (thank goodness). Hopefully some relief tomorrow.

Oh, that video was so much fun to watch. Much the same scenario here with bored sibes and hot temps. Will it ever end?
ReplyDeleteWe loved watching the one sibe (maybe Wolf?) sifting through the toy box while the other white one waited patiently to see what would come out of the magic box. Your toys all look so clean - you put a bug in Mom's head that it is time to wash ours and take away all the good smells we work so hard to get on them.
Hope it cools soon for all.
Woos ~ Phantom, Thunder, and Ciara
Pee Ess - we too are blowing like crazy. Seems like it just ended. Thunder and Ciara have huge tufts for Mom to pluck and the fur is flying everywhere - the white carpet serves as a good camouflage.
Wow, pawesome video! I need a toy bin like that one. Funny how the best toys are always near the bottom. I totally agree that the best fun is to take a stuffie and turn it into an unstuffie!!

Teddy Bear & Sierra
I am so so sorry that you and others are living in such oppressive heat. We are spared due to our elevation (over 8000') but it's over 100 deg just a 30 min drive from our house.
ReplyDeleteI hope that you get respite soon. Or, you can come to the high mountains for a quick getaway and roll in the snowfields with K and R :)
Mine have been napping lots since moving to Vegas
