In Sickness & In Health: A February Roundup of Celebrations, Awards & a Blogiversary!

Wow...it's been some February! First, I've been sick since the first...and am just now on the road to recovery of acute bronchitis that flared asthma then compounded by Flu A...multiple medical visits, breathing treatments, and bed rest...and *finally*...and turning the corner. I tried to keep everyone up-to-date on my social media pages, but I have been absent from here for most of the month (with the exception of extending my #FlashbackFriday blog hop dates three times). And guess what? It's almost March! So up front, I' d like to send out a heartfelt
"Thank You" to all who sent me messages and notes throughout my illness. They meant the world to me!

First up - FiveSibes has just celebrated our 14th Blogiversary on February 23rd! On this date in 2010, I debuted this blog with my article "February is Canine Dental Health Month!" And it has been a fantastic journey every since. Never did I ever imagine that sharing the life of  my five beautiful and amazing Siberian Huskies, a/k/a the FiveSibes, would result in such a phenomenal community. In their memory, I continue this blog and sharing information and news on the amazing breed of the Siberian Husky, as well as important resources for dogs living life with Canine Epilepsy, like my Gibson did. So Happy 14th Blogiversary to us!

Also, during this what I refer to as the longest-short-month, I'm proud to say I was notified that four of my submissions to the Dog Writers Association of America were selected as Finalists! Woo-Woo! And...my "March 13 is K9 Veterans Day: Honoring Our Military Working Dogs" article published in 4Knines was a winning entry for the Captain William Lewis Judy Award by the American Legion Brick Memorial Post 348. This story meant so much to and to have it recognized by the American Legion is such an honor!

Also selected as a Finalist in the same category was my story "The Amazing Working Dog: Highlighting Heroic, Historical, and Helpful Canines." Honestly, to receive a Finalist nomination is truly an honor, and again, this story was very special and I'm proud to have written it.

Next up, my short holiday romance was selected as a Finalist! As many of you know, I'm also a romance fiction writer, with stories published in Woman's World. So this Finalist recognition meant the world to this creative soul!

And last, but definitely not least, my Humor entry featured this photo meme of my beloved Gibson, who truly was a silly boy and brought much joy and laughter to my life!

Also in February - my short romance fiction "Cupid Always Knows Best" was published in Woman's World Magazine! That's always a very special treat for this romance writer!

And last...but by no means least...I was thrilled to have Cassidy Megan, the founder of Purple Day® for Epilepsy, highlight my International Epilepsy FiveSibes: Siberian Husky K9 News & Reviews Facebook community page's post on their page! Inspired by my epilepsy warrior "Gibson," I've been a proud Purple Day Ambassador since 2012 highlighting Canine Epilepsy and sharing important resources for Epi-dogs. To be recognized by this amazing human organization is truly an honor and huge paw steps for dogs living with epilepsy.

So to wrap up this crazy, whirlwind month that teetered between illness and celebrations, I leave you with this quote:

“For every bad thing in life, there are more good things to tip the balance.”~ Richelle Mead

Now March...come on in roaring with joy like a lion!
